I have a small question about the english language of the game.

I had EU II on german, but with 1.07 beta it went to english, and because I know "what is where" I had no problem to play..it also improves my english history knowledge(passed a surprise exame two weeks ago only with EU II knowledge :) )

But I buyed the english version of HoI, and it wasn't that easy I thougth to understand...I had lots uf trouble with the science tree and so...after some hours I understand it, but it like it, when I understand all by first reading it :D

Hmm..and now the question :D :

How "easy" will the language be in Victoria ? I've seen some screenis and I can read ~98% of the forumpostings in english, but when there are any "not standard words" I just get crazy..

Should I buy the english version(Can here, because we've a import store near) or the german one ?

Buy the english version.

Congrats, you just found THE BEST WAY TO LEARN ENGLISH.

Involve yourself with something you love that HAS to deal with english. You will learn effortlessly as through a game. Thats what I tried to do with my students. That's how I learned english myself.

I have taught english and I know. DO get the English version. In 5 years from now, you may not even play Computer games, but the language will be with you for ever. And believe me, you WILL need it.

I recently gave a presentation in my English course about how much I've learned from playing computer games over the years. When I started to really think about it, I think I've learned more words from games than from English classes. And I've been in those for 11 years:)

Vic has some difficult English in it, for instance if you look at the tech screenshot. Also one might have some trouble with the event texts, but playing itself doesn't require that much language-wise. The way you write gives the impression you know English way better than is required to learn to play.

And besides: if everybody bought English versions, there would be no need to translate them, games would be cheaper and there could be more texts and events in official patches.

I did learn it on ADD rules. Core rules were available in French, but the handbooks were not. More than 1,000 pages. Turbo learning.

:D

Go with the English version, it will be difficult at first but you will learn a valuable skill. Besides, there are those out there where English is their first and only language and they will not recognize some of the words.
