Question about how "Support Heir" works.

I am trying to get my dynasty onto the Polish throne. When I mouse over the current heir of Poland, the heir of the current Polish monarch is on top with 10 points. So I get diplo advisor and with ideas my reputation is up to 5, so im getting a 25% chance of increasing by one point every month. The problem is once I reached 10 points, the current Polish heir got bumped up to 15 points. When I reach 15 points, he goes up to 20. Why is this and is there anything to do to combat it?

IIRC, there are events whereby Poland can choose to give its own candidate more support if a foreigner will otherwise get the throne. If you ally and RM them, you're more likely to gain points for your candidate (and I would imagine you'd be less likely to have Poland support their own heir at your expense).

I am allied and RM to Poland. Every time I catch up to the Polish heir, he automatically gets 5 points added to his total. I let my game run just to see if this stops at any point. I just reached 20, and he instantly jumped up to 25. Does this happen to any nation or just Poland? Why am I wasting my time and diplomat?

It's just because Polish AI is spending legitimacy to boost +5 to his heir the same way as a player do.
