Question about Dublin

So I figured i'd start a game in Ireland, and decide what better place than Dublin.
I first off notice that Dublin is not Irish but rather Norwegian, something I never guessed. Is this correct, and more importantly How will the culture difference effect my game? Looking at my leader and the vassels they are all Irish so I'm not sure how Norwegian culture will effect my plan to Unify Ireland.

I think Dublin was founded by vikings so thats probaly why its norwegian and you will get a penalty for being foreign culture.

I may be wrong but I think Dublin was a viking settlement. And I think the culture will someday change to Irish without ever having effected your game.

edit: ninja, anyway, don't you only get culture penalties after conquering a province anyway?

Dublin was founded by Norsemen and was a main Scandinavian settlement in Ireland (along with Wexford, Waterford and Cork), yes.

1) So once I start to take over people around me I'll get a penalty?
2) Will I still get the penalty if my leader is Irish culture?
3) How does culture change in a province?

1 + 2) Yes, if the culture of your character is different.
3) It will change automatically over time, providing that everyone who has control (count, duke, king and emperor) is of the same culture. In case of Dublin: Only the Count and the Duke, since there is no king or Emperor. (Not even sure if there's a Duke...)

Dublin is changed to Norse-Gael and is in the same culture-group as Irish (hence less of a penalty).

Doesn't inquisition help with culture change as well?

I know religion change, but I thought it also affected culture...

Regardless, my Dublin was Irish before my first character was dead.

Dublin's culture changed after ~75-100 years for me.
