What exactly determines which class a pop belongs too and how much income it gets? What happens to the rich classes income if it dissapears altogether (By taxing it at 100% for a prolonged period of time for instance), I need to know as I am planning to play a game where I create a communist utopia but I want to know of doing so is actually feasible within the game.

The classes are hardcoded. They are as follows:

Lower Class POP Types:
Slaves (really they are lower than 'lower')
Farmers
Labourers
Craftsmen

Middle Class POP Types:
Clerks
Clergymen
Officers

Upper Class POP Types:
Capitalists
Aristocrats

Also, if you tax at 100% then the upper class (or middle class) POPs will devolve to lower class POPs. Taxing at 100% also can increase militancy, so beware!

Thank you, but to clarify. Where does the captialists and aristocrats income go if there are no capitalists and aristocrats?

Keep in mind that your national cultures share the country's overall wealth with non-cultures.
And this can be a bad thing.
But also a good thing, if your pops are so ridiculously wealthy, that annexing foreign peoples can increase world demand for industrial goods...!

It's actually a disadvantage to Empire building. You might be able to conquer multiple continents but your national pops remain improvised and cannot purchase basic good and luxuries.
Likewise, you're also killing the world's economy as these conquered subjects (being twice as poor as your nationals) will be unable to afford things such as canned food and etc.

Keep in mind that your national cultures share the country's overall wealth with non-cultures.
So there's an actual disadvantage to playing as ''Empire''. Technically, you can play as a country and remain as L/F, using factory efficiency and population to build an economic empire. You can also expand your ''influence'' through alliance building, good relations and satelliting foreign countries.
It's something worth trying as an European or Latin American Republic. Just stay within your borders, use immigrants as craftsmen/clerks and attempt to overtake the U.S. as a manufacturing center.
Use your abundant industrial wealth to invest into Russia and Eastern Europe and get their resource production up and everything. You can also try to civilize the uncivilized world and thus increase their demand as well.

By investing you mean giving them money in "Open Negotiations"?

In addition to the list above, soldiers of course belong to the poor class too.

If you don't have rich class, you don't have income from rich class pops (capitalists and aristocrats). Isn't that pretty simple?

Ahh yeah! I knew I'd forget a POP type haha! :p

Basically, the income of the nation is split between your POPs, and undergoes modifications depending on the class of the POP. Their income won't go anywhere - it will just get split up amongst your remaining POPs. There is a VickyWiki article, somewhere?

As I hoped it would be, and as it should be. Thanks all for your replies.
