Aight, I looked through the wiki, but could not find anything to help me, ya'll are my last hope. :(

My capitalists have stopped making money. I'm Germany, have a liberal Liezzes-faire party in power, tarriffs as high as they go (~50%). My capitalists are all getting every good they want, but they are loosing money, at about £2 a day, thus completely stalling industrialization. What is making them not be able to make money? Taxes for rich are at zero, and I've even tried reducing tariff's down to zero, but my capis continue to loose money. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by subsidizing their purchases? And by exporting more, you mean lower the amount of supplies I keep in stock, so I can export more goods?


Negative tariffs should lower the amount POPs pay for imports. And never stockpile anything unless you have a specific goal for it.

I keep all raw materials at sell 20 (ish), just in case. I can't afford negative tarriff's, it puts me in the sinkhole money wise. Anyone know how to make pop's vote conservative? :rolleyes:

Actually, I was under the impression that negative tariffs don't work as intended. They cost money and make POPs happier but they don't make it cheaper for them to buy stuff.

Usually something like this is transitory - did you rush your commerce techs?
Not really, I kept it all balanced. Right now, I'm on -£133.45 for tarriff's, and the capis are getting about ~£1 a day in income, but cannot purchase about 50% of their luxury goods. I'm starting to really fall behind on railroads, so I'm desperate at this point. :(

Will researching more commerce techs solve this problem you think?

Actually, I was under the impression that negative tariffs don't work as intended. They cost money and make POPs happier but they don't make it cheaper for them to buy stuff.

That is why I said SHOULD;). I've never run a test-bed scenario on them as I never use them. Does the money just disappear? I think the eff% is just so low that it doesn't seem like it makes things cheaper, but it does.

Commerce techs will make it worse, except for the ones that raise capitalist bonus. Every industry and commerce tech makes all POPs want to buy more stuff. Commerce techs increase tax efficiency, for the most part, so if you tax nothing you get a higher return of nothing. Most industry techs increase your output, which will increase your exports unless you stockpile. More exports gives more capitalist income. Your output will rise anyways as your population grows past certain thresholds, literacy rises and inventions fire. Be patient.

It's 1890, and all those fancy electical toys are firing, so I'm falling behind fast, plus I'm still only on iron railroads for the most part, because those fool capis are being stupid. My hording is only in the 10-20 "items" of each good, so exporting is up. It's just annoying, because the more I'm exporting, it still doesn't seem to effect the capis income. Blarg.

Well, it sounds like you ought to ditch those useless capitalists and just start building stuff yourself. In my opinion, the best way to build your economy (at least for a developed country, for uncivs/backwards civs, you might need a period of state capitalism to get industry enough to bring income to your cappies) is to start out with capitalists building stuff and then switch to state capitalism when you have a decent industrial base and infrastructure. Then you can direct development in the way you want it, and expand a lot faster since you can build many factories per state at the same time.

Well, with L-F it's probably going to be difficult, but it's not impossible. You should be able to get at least conservatives through manipulating taxes and voting rules, and then (if they're not state capitalist) you could crank up taxes to get the socialists. Or, you can use the "general strike" method. Close all RGOs and factories and crank up poor taxes as much as you can. Poor, unemployed POPs vote red. A lot of job to do that, though.

You can get rid of LF by appointing your favoured party immediately after an election, it's just a one time militancy hit. I think you might need "right to ban" to do this, though.

You can get rid of LF by appointing your favoured party immediately after an election, it's just a one time militancy hit. I think you might need "right to ban" to do this, though.

Seeing as he mentioned he's a democracy, he can't do that. Unless his wording was sloppy and he's actually a Constitutional Monarchy. Then, by all means, change to state capitalism! :)

Actually, I have found a way. I used the Vicky Party Editing Tool, and am changing the Liberaldem Partiet's economic policy to interventionist/state capitalist depending on my needs. No militancy hit, although slightly annoying.

I'm a Con Mon, my bad.

Oh, if cheating is ok, you get a lot more options :) Well, you could call it modding but it's really just skipping the limitations of the game, but on the other hand a game is supposed to be fun so I reckon you could just do as you please. Though if you want to have a bit more of a challenge for fairness's sake, i.e. militancy hit, you could fire the revolution events to change parties. It will give you a militancy (and relations with some nations) hit, will still be not using game mechanics to change politics, but will have consequences. And you don't need to quit, save, edit, start!
