Hello!

I was playing Stellaris and started having some issues with fighting the AI. Fleets of equivalent fleet power and composition were getting absolutely wiped out by the enemy. At first I figured I had designed my ships incorrectly so I started comparing my designs to what I was fighting and found numbers that started bothering me. Their ships, despite equivalent technology, were far far superior to what I could make. Even when I recreated their designs to use for myself the enemy was still wildly superior in every way.

The race in question is listed as equivalent in technology and is a Fanatic Collectivist/Spiritualist race so they shouldn't be getting any racial bonuses to damage.

However their ships are far, far better than anything I'm knocking out by an absolute mile.

So now I'm sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out what in the world grants them a 34% bonus to damage along with all the other stat buffs they have. I have fleet Academies on all of my stations and both Admirals were of equal level. Nothing I can think of that would swing such ludicrous numbers.

And I don't think it could be a tech difference. I have several of the +5% techs (Shield Harmonics II, High Density Munitions I, Loader Efficiency II... etc etc) and if they managed to have the some dozen +5% techs to get those kind of numbers above what I have, the diplomacy screen wouldn't show a Equivalent Technology Level.

If the Ugarlak Autocracy were a Military Dictatorship with an Admiral stars higher than mine with the correct traits and a superior Technology Level I'd understand, but this just sits wrong with me and the only thing I can guess is that the AI cheats on their ship designs?

[edit] Did more testing out and recreated the enemy fleet ship for ship through savescumming and lucked into the encounter I wanted.

The issue is that the fleet I designed showed 28.7k Fleet Strength, and when I mimicked the enemy fleet it dropped to 24.4k, but was actually more effective than the one I had built. The substantial DPS increase is from the Admiral having a +25% bonus that isn't shown in ship design menu.

Mods, go ahead and take this post down. I'm just retarded.

Haha you realised the bonuses dont show up in the ship design screen? :)
Ships with heavy shields have higher 'power' than heavy armour, but really aren't superior.
