Upon freeing the witch, the popup comes up asking to pay 1,000 or postpone. I already have 1,000 gold but the button to pay was grayed out. I postponed it twice hoping it would work itself out, it didn't. I also tried retsarting the game but the button is still grayed out. The random terraforming is beyond annoying to me so I have no desire to continue playing till this gets fixed.

Every patch this quest seems to be bugged in a different way. I hope they fix it soon.
Do you have a screen of this? Or even better: a save game? We are having a hard time finding out what's causing this.
for me presently, it is bugged in another way ^^
i freed the witch, paid the 1000g, got the shipwreck, killed it, got the rainbow dragon spell, called my dragon, finished the quest, so the mage doesnt bother me anymore but.....
she still trying to rob me 1000g every 3 days

no i dont. only when i noticed she was asking for more, around like at day 99.
in the save i had, she was reasking again at day 104, 108, 113, 116.... till i stopped play that random game . i tried also to make screenshots with Prnt Scrn but when i was going in Paint to cntrl+V ... bah i was getting a screenshot of my desktop :S
i also tried to check my save game to make a copy... i never found where the game is saving the saves
(edit. i found finally where are the saves.. and i guess my save is named : 1001.client.2, 1001.info and 1001.logic.
going to try to upload it somewhere)
edit2: i dunno , it happended to me 2-3 times so far... will try to catch you one

We had issues with some quests being mixed up & other quests not having all the options available. These should be solved in 2.1.143.
