So me and my roomates do a thing every so often where we run through a megacampaign hands off just to see (and bet on) the world it creates. There's one minor improvement that would make it so much easier to see what exactly happened. I want to be able to see this screen:
Gild0tg.png

in observe mode, and be able to click the history button. As it stands, if you click a title on the character screen, nothing happens unless you are a character. This makes it really hard to tell what happened to a particular title.

A potentially more major improvement that I would be super happy about would be if I could set important characters and get updates about them. My use case is weird, where I want to track ~5 dynasties the whole game, but that would be amazing.

Could you just become a character using the play command on pause, and then observe again?
Yeah, and that's what I do. But picking a character, remembering their ID, pausing, switching to them, looking up the thing I wanted to look up, switching back to observer, and unpausing ruins the flow.

You could perhaps get a minor mod made (or make it yourself) which has a immortal character who owns a microscopic county with no other traits and a empty County and no gold/piety/prestige. Also missing all ways to get characters and with a modified celibate trait (nothing other than cannot marry). Also with a religion that is peaceful with all others. (No holy wars/crusades)

Nobody can reach you to war, no kids=no claimants.

I don't think we are gonna do any changes to the observe mode in the near future, unfortunately.

However, it doesn't have to be very complicated to check the history of a title with the current system. When you are an observer, you can press and hold CTRL+Left click on a character to "observe" that specific character. This will allow you to open all interface like if you were playing. You can therefore open the title view and check the history to your heart's content.

When you're done observing, you have an icon with a red cross next to the portrait of the character you are observing. Clicking that will put you back into observe mode.

I hope that helps at least somewhat. :)
