hello -
Somewhat new to the game. Playing vanilla version.
Trying to get a grip on the AI spamming units through my territory and interrupting my battles. But, I know that is a much bigger issue.
When I have the option, I've tried requesting units from puppets, colonies, etc. I request a third or half of their units, all if they have less than 10 units. Goals it to train the units up to level 3 and make sure they are equipped. Use them to garrison and defend their own country before they go walking half way across the world. And of course to fight at the front and spare the lead country some casualties.
Where does supply and equipment come from for these units? I noticed once when I was playing as Japan - when I requested some units from Mengkukuo, suddenly I had supply shortage in that county. So, it looks like their supply comes through my supply lines. What about equipment? I'm assuming they draw on their own country's stock pile. So, am I indirectly supplying the requested units through lend lease to that country?
Do your minors develop more sophisticated unit templates as the game progresses? If I'm supplying lend lease AA and AT weapons and the existing minor's templates don't use them, am I wasting equipment or will they eventually use them? I've seen where you can view the unit templates individually - any way to see a larger picture for the minor's army?
I was shocked to see the Slovak armor unit's template -- one tank battalion, one cavalry battalion and that is it. At least it had a recon company. I suppose outside of modding, you can't do anything with this in the game.
Is it possible to tell what sort of equipment your minor nations need? How much oil they need? Do they even use oil? Does their manpower pool run out?
If I'm lend leasing aircraft, will the minor use them? I have not seen evidence of this yet.
Also, is it possible to return the requested units? Don't see an option for this.
thanks
