Was playing through a game in 1.06 vanilla as Germany; I had gotten to april 20th. I then decided to save the game in order to reap the benefits of surrounded forces (am currently invading france). For some reason when I saved, my oil which was ~22,000 became ~-22,000. Yes, that's right, negative. When I reloaded, it remained that way. Now, I could just return to my April 1st auto-save, but I have little time to play (only around 1 hour/day), and don't want to waste the hour it took me to get this far.

So my question, is there a cheat where I can either modify the save file or directly modify my oil reserves and fix the problem, so I can continue my game? Since these cheats have probably already been discussed, a link would be appreciated.

Finally, is this a known bug?

It's a known bug.

You can fix it by opening the console with F12 and type "oil" which will give you 5000 oil.

Then press up-arrow and enter as many times as you need to return to your previous oil level.

Another way to do it is to edit the save but the console works just aswell and you don't have to go into the nitty gritty details..

Leaving the console is done by pressing F12 and Space.

You could cheat ingame and type oil in the console (f12 and ctrl+f12 to close). Or, you can open your savegame file with Notepad, look for your country info: search for
Code:
country = {
    tag = GER

and then, look for oil = and change that number.

edit: bah, Slargos beat me to it...at least, my explanation is better...:D

Wow, your explanation is so much better

More complex is not always better

I gave him 2 opportunities...you only made him tire his poor fingers cheating for 44000 oil...

:D gzav

Of course, you also opened a potential can of whoopass on his savefile had he not been up to the task of doing it that way.

- Slargos ;)

I, unlike you, did not underestimate Patluck, i knew he would have been up to the task...Especially thanks to my great and easy to understand explanations ;)

Of course, anyone who has done any sort of supportwork knows that it's not an act of underestimation, but an act of starting out at a basic level to ensure that the person in need of assistance isn't left not understanding. ;)
