Do you remember what kind of war it was? Might tell as how they started it. E.g. perhaps someone claimed their throne before they were your vassal and it started a succession war? SHouldn't be possible, but maybe there's a bug.

I've actually seen the ottoman's vassal of candar attacking their liege while still vassalized to them!Candar couldn't make peace until i forced Ottoman to release them...:rofl::wacko:

Vassals are supposed to be able to attack a liege that they are not allied to. They aren't supposed to be able to DoW anyone else. That's is my understanding of it at least. If that has been changed or has an exception (or I'm just dead wrong), then I'd love to hear the proper explanation.

You're pretty much right, except in HttT they can also break their alliance to DoW their Overlord.

Ok. I suspected they might have changed something from reading the CB guide. Didn't seem like the re-vassalize CB would see much use under the old system. Probably didn't make sense that under the old system your own provinces could rebel, but your vassals were trapped forever once they signed an alliance.

Yes but you dont understand they were still considered a vassal and were unable to negotiate with their liege, until i forced ottomans to end vassalization of candar
