Edit: I saw in the responses that this has already been fixed in a recent patch. I was not aware of this. I must not have noticed last I was in-game and just relied on the wiki information to be correct.

Building, and enjoying the benefits of, pyramid great works currently requires a character to be either Lunatic, reformed Pagan with the Pyramids doctrine, or Egyptian culture.

"Egyptian" culture in CK2, as everyone knows, refers to Masri Arabs who are of course not the ancestral culture of Egypt and, during the Middle Ages at least, could hardly be said to have any cultural connection to the pyramids.

Granted, the pyramids were of course built so long ago that barely anyone could be said to have a real connection with them, but if there is to be a cultural requirement for building/using pyramids, it only makes sense to make them available for Coptic culture which is the traditional culture of Egypt during the CK2 period.

I'm not suggesting Arab Egyptians be disqualified from using pyramids, but Copts absolutely should be allowed to use them if anyone should. That they aren't, almost has to be an oversight.

Since this is a very, very small change, that requires just a tiny addition in the Great Works file, I hope this can be addressed as soon as the next update.

Copts can already use Pyramids and build them too. It was added in a recent patch. Checked both in game and in the game files to be sure I hadn't just imagined reading it in the patch notes.

Yeah, much easier to become a lunatic. Would have been cool if your vassals started building Pyramids for themselves, would be a interesting way of doing vassal management since then they would be spending all their money on building these giant tombs rather than fighting each other and growing strong enough to challenge you. Sadly that cant happen since the top liege always owns the Great Work.

Agreed. You would think it would be a bonus tacked onto Bloodthirsty Gods to emulate the Aztecs or maybe something like Ancestor Veneration which would *kind of* fit the whole "life after death" thing the Egyptians were into.

Pyramid is also really weird. . . It has a feature that will just randomly kill a couple of your relatives.

Yeah, the Traps thing fires and kills two random courtiers every single succession, and the text says "Curse you, [previous character's name]!" like it thinks you conquered it from them. Very annoying, especially when it's a great work I can't use (which is really odd to me... basically no one, even those meeting the activation conditions, has enough connection to them to really "get use" out of them except as "look at this big impressive thing!"

Whenever I conquer Egypt, one of my first actions is to "loot" the pyramids. You can't use them anyway, and this gets rid of the traps (as well as giving you a little extra money, not that you'll need it if you are powerful enough to conquer Egypt).

Hmm, I should try. They're already damaged by war and I'm not allowed to repair them... I was under the impression that the loot button wasn't there but I might've just overlooked it, it is tiny and I usually don't use it.
