Its on Hard, and I have some updates...

BadBoy down to 24
Inflation up to 45
I adjusted my incomes and my techs are BOOMING
13,9,7,5,8 , 140gold investment, 20 into military (did a little expanding) and 20 is coming into my treasury per turn. I've built a workshop, temple, and courthouse in every city, university in 2, textile mill in 1, and constable in half. Munster/Ultech declared war on me, and I whooped their ass, took all their land and vassalised their capitals. I'm keeping france happy as I can :D And I'm in the process of diploannexing the swiss now. Year is 1566, I got 12 full-sized colonies, and 4 im still building in asia.

Due to the inflation rate however, I'm about to just start over :p

Tax Accessors can help. Get the Idea National Bank for -.10 inflation a year. You set your Treasury to 0 and you will lose inflation.

Lol I never saved-loaded, I just attempted, and failed, bribbed back up to 200, attempted again, usually takes me 10 tries and 400ish gold to get an annex

You came on a bit strong at first, but seem to have backed off a bit. I don't doubt that you haven't save-reloaded or cheated... but isn't constantly manipulating the diplo-annex kinda gamey?

Only reason I bring it up is because I hear people bitch about how easy the game is and then turn around and hear them talk about how clever they are for finding a way to manipulate the mechanics of the game. That's not what it's all about for me...

If you're happy playing that way fine... I've done that type of thing too... but I wouldn't then go running around talking about how "easy" the game is. All games are easy once you know the loop-holes.

That is a lot of inflation but who is left to stop him? He still has the latin tech tree and a non-tribal form of government :p
With that level of inflation, he may as well be playing in the Muslim tech group.

Nice going! sort of my first game with brandenburg, my only problem now is Austria and that dammned CTD that keeps happenin, had the same problem has you, minted like a fool thinking that otherwise i would lose money (and who would want that  ) and by 1600s my inflation was around 20% soo by 1602 i started too actually lose money and tried too live of the yearly tax income, it went rather well too say the least.

incase you want too know i can form Germany if only i hade Anhalt and Lüneburg...damn austrians and my bad peace negotiations....

Congratulations on finding a new, innovative strategy :)

This country is not screwed. The hordes of cavalry can still protect him for ages against any sort of foreign invasion. It has reached the size of becoming unstoppable.

I think this is actually an exploit and tells that there needs to be some sort limits on diplovassalization/annexing. Probably size-limiters would do.

I don't have a game manual however, so any suggestions on how to keep up with tech would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys

I also would like you to explain in believeable detail why you don't have the manual.

What are you talking about, one war from France and he will fold like a straw house. He's been spending cash like crazy and minting more. Now one of those lvl. 7 miliatries can take half of his empire with one swipe and take him of the map, 5 years later.

Possibly, I wasn't making a stance about whether he could continue in the same fashion. But why let him grow that large in the first place? It makes zero strategic sense (which I said AI has none).

Lol no money cheat and no load-saving, I simply got lucky the first time and annexed bohemia pretty much the first try and at that point I pretty much turned into a cash cow :D

I cant seem to figure out, starting a new game, how to keep inflation down without actually losing money :/

And really, yea its ridiculous that I was able to grow to that size, but it seems realistically im screwed at this point on that game  Sure I was able to grow to epic proportions but its pretty much stagnated out, its going to take forEVER for my BB to come down from the burgundy diploanex, and to do all this diplo annexing my inflation is pretty much critical and me being so huge my tech is garbage, france is already at 13/14 and have like 40k troops at my border  thats why Im trying so hard to keep them happy because even WITH my hordes, I wouldn't stand a chance.

I really wasnt trying to brag, and I thought diplomacy/expansion was the basis of the game, and seemingly it's not as much of an exploit as one may think, considering the investments I made to get that size (I easily spent over 10k in bribes alone).

Im going to start over now, someone said Serbia but I cant find a Serbia in HRE which I prefer to play in for now, so Ansbach it is! Wish me luck :)

Good luck.

You actually had the exact opposite problem that I experienced my first go around. I didn't figure out how to use the bank effectively and also didn't know what kind of rhythm the game had... in other words I really didn't know if patience was as important (at least, starting in 1453,) as it seemed to be.

Anyway... I played a bit too conservative...never got the bank and never colonized but I refused to mint so I just kinda stagnated for a long long time.

Started over several times... ;)

Would be kinda cool to see what happens to that empire you have. I like the way the game punishes sprawl. Have fun with this time-eating black hole. :D

Alright, alright, just for you guys I'll continue that game  see what happens.

I have a savegame for Anbach(sp?) and within the first 2 years I conquered/annexed my neighbor to the northwest and vassalised wuttemburg via diplo :p so Ill continue that one... after I finish the one I have :)

I pretty much just gotta let that game run for a while so my BB points get drained for me to do anything

I think that inflation is not such a big deal as I originally though.

20% inflation makes your costs 20% higher, but then, if with the gold you minted you manage to obtain an income higher than 20%... Good business!

It makes your costs higher AND your tech needing that percentage more points to research :(

I have a problem guys! Look at this pic...
bug.jpg

Apparently, I lost the demand annex option not only for switzerland though it recommends me to, but also Hungary and Poland! I have all the requirements, vassaled for 10 years, me and them at peace, no regency council, 190+ relations... I dont get it! What could possibly be going on? I think it did that after I invaded and annexed bavaria who was allied to no one 'cept cyrpus, they joined as allies and now their annex options are greyed out! Im thinking the way I'd have to fix it is to release them as a vassal and re-vassalize them and wait 10 years, or just release them and invade them :p

I believe it resets the vassal date when you became Germany. Supposedly fixed by saving and reloading.
