having a multi-element aura, ESAF for example, seems to be too good of a defense. my opponent casts ESAF on himself and sets up a normal shield. so basically my stone+ice projectiles can't go through and ESSRQR does no damage to him. having chilled him would seem like a good counter to him at first since i figured i could go around his shield and cast projectile faster than him. but apparently the ESAF aura doesn't prevent him from casting fire on himself. if it completely negates fire, it makes sense you shouldn't be able to thaw yourself. same with trying to freeze him.

is this being a problem to anyone else? or am i just bad and need someone to enlighten me. thank you.

Im sorry but you are "just bad and need someone to enlighten you". When I play with people who can actually play I almost never use SAFE or SARE auras as they are easly countered with any water spell.

I suggest you try using water bombs and water vulcanos.

I suggest you try using water bombs and water vulcanos.

They are called geysers ;)

Say you don't know what he has SAFE or SARE, you have the following possibilities: Ice sword, rock sniping, water bombing, steam bombing (although they might have cast QFSAFE), geysers, water storm, mines. If you can distinguish between SAFA and SARE, you just use either cold to slow and the kill with one of the above mentioned, or you use fire bombs (DF) or vulcanos (EDF).

water can still be dried with SAFE on, unless you mean to use the knockback and kill them, which is unreliable

i know volcanos or ice sword can go through shields but that needs me up close and he'll have ice sword out first.

why not? there's no drawback. unless the steam version is different than others and i don't know abt it =/

If my opponent uses aura like SAFE, SARE or QFSAFE I just pummel them down to submisson with water bombs, forcing them to switch to armor and then finishing with ice wall or a rock. Its just to easy to spam water bombs and completely CC your opponent or even kill him smashing his body against a wall to consider auras OP.

Auras are situational just like self shields - you are not supposed to use them most of the time.

If you are from EU then just add me and I will show you why auras arent that good.

First things first.... Welcome to the community Amaruak :)

I personally am I big fan of Cold and when someone uses SAFE it kinda makes me happy. I use DRRRR (Cold Balls), they have a huge area (and range if charged), it's easy to cast them around corners and placing them behind shield to cold your opponent.

What you say is true however, they can still thraw themselves. But needless to say it buys you time and you can still recast cold just after. If you have a clear shot and open chance, you can get a quick kill with DQRQRQRQR.

Otherwise, what Cuza and Tomi said work too. I personally prefer ice balls because it makes opponents explode and that kinda reminds me of Mortal Kombat Fatalities :p Which make ice ball kills ridiculously satisfying (note however that the ER aura defends against ice projectiles, which is why most players prefer geysers and ice swords)

Well, they might do more damage, but if the enemy has cold resistance it just doesn't do anything at all, so be careful with that!

It's about being able to switch auras quickly. Without auras, I can kill you in a maximum of two shots, one if you stand in my direct line of sight.
Opponent uses lots of water => switch to a rock armor. Then, the opponent will either continue (in which case he is bad), or switch to another playstyle, that is much more effective against armor and forces you to switch to SAFE/SARE again.
