Putting the "U.S." In Useless

Since we are all anxiously awaiting beta and the eventual release, I figured i'd open a controversial thread to promote some good debate.

In my opinion, the Lend-Lease given to the allies by the US was essential, but the war would not have gone much differently if the United States never entered. The USSR would've won the war on all fronts, although there probably would be no D-Day, and with a communist controlled Europe by 1945, we might've seen a Russian take on Operation Unthinkable.

Thoughts?

It is known that Zhukov wanted to make a move to "rid Europe of capitalism" but Stalin did not allow it saying that it would be a disaster considering that the red army is bleeding and the country is broken so I don't think we would see that, I don't see the US allowing Europe to become dominated by one power since that means less people to trade with/sell weapons to.

What about the War in the Pacific? That would have undoubtedly gone much much differently than it had in real life. So much so, perhaps, that it may be impossible to say what the outcome would be.

Sure, the USSR was destined to win eventually. But, it would have, without a doubt taken much longer than it did historically. In the extra time, don't you think Germany could have completed an atomic bomb? Who knows how the war could have played out then. It's all speculation of course. But I certainly wouldn't call the United States "useless".

I would say that Churchill's plan to strike the "weak underbelly" of Europe would've gone ahead instead of an invasion through France. It gets cloudy at this point but direct cooperation between the USSR and the U.K. cannot be ruled out.

That's an interesting point, but with or without D-Day, Germany still would've lost in Europe before they could develop an atomic bomb. Japan had been stagnant in China for a decade, and the soviets wouldn't have a hard time invading, considering they'd be circumventing the front lines in China. The entire Japanese army would've been trapped between the Chinese and soviets.

In the Pacific, Japan would still probably lose in Manchuria to the Soviets, however the IJN would be perfectly intact and the Soviet Union could never hope to invade the Japanese mainland with it up and running. So I guess it would become a question of how long Japan could survive living on with resources from Japan only, and from the British/Dutch colonies if Japan still invades them in this timeline.

Without lend lease Germany would have won.
With lend lease but without the threat of America it would depend, mid east and japan would either make or break it.
With the threat of U.S. involvement Germany would have fallen.
The 2nd Russo-Japanese war and the 3rd world war would have been intense though.

Lend lease was useful for them but not essenitial at any moment. They offensive would be slower becuse of the lack of trucks, they would lose 2 to 5 mln soldiers more but they would still won. Hitler for the long time was not interested in nuclear wepon, and its not somthing that can be created on short notice.

Would they be able to take rest of europe most likly, would they be able to keep it most likly not, they would be much more exhausted and had to defend to much territory.

Without the United States collaborating with Britain and the Commonwealth, chances are that D-Day would have never been pulled off. And, if it had, it wouldn't have been nearly as successful in our timeline. So, without the United States, there would be much more Soviet influence over Europe, too. And, I'm sure I don't need to explain why that isn't a very good thing. Just wanted to put that out there.

I know that's not his point but it really came off as anti-American even though that was most likely not his intention. Although the title said "Putting the U.S in useless"..so I mean, he's not totally innocent.
