Pushing Claim on liege's republic results in game over

Playing Konstantius (the Greek Orthodox Patrician in Amalfi in 867) ... Push the claim for Amalfi that they have, win and get game over screen since I'm now playing a republic (huh?)

Best guess is that it figures out i'm a independent Lord Major, giving me the game over screen, before handling me the Doge title...

Do you have the Republic DLC? Reminds me of what would happen with the Sword of Islam before it became available. If you changed to Muslim by the console without having the DLC it was game over.

if i didn't have the republic DLC i very much doubt that i would have been able to play a Patrician with no other holdings don't you think? ... of cause i have the Republic DLC (only major DLC i don't have is SI)
