Purple Heart icon for all those people who pre ordered HOI3

well after the initial post now the idea is for a icon on preorder on HOI4

Well as strategy informer said "In many ways, Hearts of Iron III was a bit of a problem child for Paradox Interactive. A grand-strategy WW2 wargame, it was wonderfully ambitious, but a bit bloated and ultimately flawed in execution."

So I thought as someone who played HOI3 from the beginning, and was really frustrated at the beginning with all its issues, but loved it all the same. How about a purple heart icon for all those who pre ordered HOI3 and Pre Order HOI IV

Just an idea.

Looking forward to the new one already.

Tanzhang it was a slightly tongue in cheek remark. But may work for HOI IV pre order (We know the pain but we sign up for the next mission anyway!)

How could Paradox possibly know from the vantage point of today who had pre-ordered HoI3 and who didn't? Decent idea for HoI4 preorders though.

PI is likely to know, which licences (cd keys) were sold by Steam and other shops before release. In case giving it to everyone is too complicated, just give it to those who preordered via Steam (which IIRC was big majority of sales) as a DLC cd key.

I can't even remember if I pre-ordered. I know I bought it, played around a bit, read the forums, and kept away from it for a year before diving back in now and then.

On Gamersgate it shows that I ordered HOI3 on 23rd Jul 2009 for the princely sum of $39.99. Two weeks before release. What a naive fool I was back then.

Anyway can't wait to pre-order HOI4!

New Paradox is much better at smooth releases than Old Paradox. The change was heavily talked about and definitely noticeable after Gettysburg. A pre-order is much less likely to go wrong, now: I pre-ordered EU4 and it was fine on release.

I agree with Totalbiscuit in general about pre-ordering, however when it comes to companies that I've already purchased a bunch of games from and are quite sure that they put good effort and quality into them, then I find that there's no reason to not pre-order, especially if they give you bonuses that you'd otherwise have to pay for separately.

I "kinda" agree with TB, and this sentiment, but up to a certain point.

Like, if it's just to further the franchise and I already like the franchise even though they don't take many risks, I'll preorder (like every Madden).

However, for things like this, for pre-ordering HOI4, I have a lot of faith in PDX at this point and would pre-order if it got me something extra.

For the most part as I said I agree with not pre-ordering, especially in the case where you can see gameplay day 1, and if you like it can just buy it after a few hours of release.

Having said all that, even though it's changing things and taking risks, I will pre-order HOI4 if the option becomes available.. This almost solely based on the new division design templates, One of my core problems with HOI is I don't care to tediously re-organize all the time (which I do even though it isn't REQUIRED).

For the detractors to that which may point to HOI3, I already lived through HOI3 and enjoyed playing the buggy game. This is exactly what I want in a WW2 game, big strategic options and customization. If there were any competition with what the HOI series is and has been then I might more strongly consider not pre-ordering.
