I'm way too tired to think of a more clever term, but I think you get the crux. This will give more playstyles that don't tech rush the option to use captured pops to boost their tech. Though of course, tech rushers could use this too, to an extent (see below).

Similar to this, there's Processing or Forced Labor. With this, players get a +X to society/phys/engineering or perhaps a forced scientist job? And, there's a small chance/roll every day (like the death counter for age on leaders) that a technology the Pops' former empire researched (prior to capture) is unlocked +/or a small % progress of technology they already researched and you have access to. Could be a pop up/notification thing on the top left corner of the screen like Rivalries, etc. "Some of the scientists showed us their part in the design of the Ion Thrusters." -Research progress increased x%.

To me it seems plausible as 1 pop is a lot a lot of people. And while one person on a team may not know the whole design/process, they know there part and could share it. And people have indeed extracted...there's the TERM! updating title.

Hive-mind are immune to this as the queen could just release the drone/kill it, something. Psionics get a bonus to this purging.

I think a generic name is best suited for this, because this can include a variety of things.

Forced scientists (for the brainy prisoners), vivisection, interrogation, guinea pigs / test dummies / experimental testing ground for all kinds of things you don't want to expose "real people" (a.k.a. non-xeno-scum)

All of that would be included in one undesirable "job" - therefore i think a name like "forced scientist" is ill-suited for what we're talking about.
