I heard a valid comment about the late game having way too much money. I don’t wish to change any of the income generators or costs; I’d rather see another avenue to spend excess funds. It seems to me that monarch points (MP) are the real money of the game and we try to exchange or convert ducats into MP’s as much as possible. Here are some options to further this cause.

Option 1: Just allow a straight up conversion to buy MP’s for ducats. The cost is up for debate but I would think $20 to buy 1 point in any category of your choosing. No cool down timer, no limit, just purchase as much and as often as you would like. Maybe the price should increase over time like tech costs increase.

Option 2: Require an administrative building to be constructed in your capital before allowing option1. Maybe the building is unlocked after tech 10 or maybe make it high priced to prevent it in the early game. I would think a $5000 price tag would work. Make it like the university where it adds another building slot.

Option 2a: Allow an administrative building in all provinces ($500 each) and each admin building will increase administrative efficiency (1% or 2% each with a max of 20%). However, the admin building in the capital unlocks option 1 and costs $5000.

Option 3: Require a MP Exchange building. Any and all Nations that have constructed the MP Exchange building will have access to the MP trading system. This will not be effected by relations nor will you need to have discovered a nation to trade with them because you only trade with the exchange as the intermediary. The price of MP’s will be set by supply/demand with a floor ($2) and a ceiling ($20) per MP. The exchange will have a float of 100 MP’s in each category to start and will move between 0 and 200 supply with the price scaling from $20 to $2 respectively. If the player purchases MP’s, then the float will not increase until another nation sells excess MP’s to the exchange. This will allow MP rich Nations a way to get ducats to fund their armies. Perhaps to balance the programming, the exchange will reset to 100 supply every year.

You can already spend extra cash on better advisors and leveling them up to level 5. So this sounds unneeded.

if this were to happen i'd say start with the building and then the price for MP increments in a similar way that provincial development does. otherwise you have huge amounts of gold and with the game paused and with patience, you could theoretically get all your provinces up to forty dev and that's just crazy. So making the price of monarch points increase still lets you, as you get richer, to purchase MP, but you aren't able to exploit it and become a mega-tall mega-wide country.

Honestly it just sounds weird. For what Monarch Points represent in the game, ducats shouldn't make a ruler more able.. But in a way it should make it easier to do things with his nation.

What I would prefer would be something along the lines of investments. You could invest X amount of money a month into something, whether it be tech, or coring, or development etc, and it would make these things more efficient. Cheaper tech, cheaper/faster coring or a chance of point-free development/Reduced Development cost. Universities already help with development cost though, I will admit that.

Money doesn't make an efficient ruler- and despite players being geniuses compared to the kings and queens of the ages because we're only playing a game- we should be in a way, restrained by the rulers abilities, this is what MP's are for.

Flooding the game with even more Monarch Points isn't a good idea to be honest- but investments could be a bit more efficient than outrightly buying points. It makes no sense to me.

Being able to completely buy points kinda ruins many events in the game, where you can lose money for points- I will admit it's the same with my investments idea, but it doesn't produce a monarchs skill out of money, it makes it easier for the monarch to use his skill.

The real issue I'm trying to solve is the late game boredom. I've been playing eu4 for 3 years now & have yet to get much further than 1600 or so. Its the same problem time after time. I'm swimming in ducats, $10,000 to $100,000 but have nothing left to spend my money on. Manpower is maxed because I can afford merc's, boats are all upgraded and buildings are all built. However, I'm several thousand points behind in ADM and DIP MP's due to coring and annexing subjects. The game is very boring and tedious at this point. I would like some mechanic to get the game moving along again and out of the rut.

It seems like a good monetization scheme. They could add optional purchases to the game so we can get more MP when we really need it. A bit like the last DLC but renewable.

Let's take the only resource left in the game that is at least somewhat scarce and make it abundant as well.

Sounds reasonable.

Thanks for running down a proposal with no beneficial proposal of your own. What value did you just add to the community other than trying to make yourself look better?

I don't need to make a beneficial proposal. I can tell you it's a bad idea from a gameplay perspective.
What's up with this widespread opinion that everyone has to contribute with their own set of ideas to be allowed by his highness to participate in his holy thread.

In fact, I can't even make a beneficial proposal because there is none, based on your opening post.
I disagree with the basic idea your comment is based on.
What would my proposal look like? I propose we get less MP because this guy wants more?

Hilarious.
