Iam planning to carve up the United States' provinces into 50 PUPPET
NATIONS in real life and in the near future. The game Hearts of Iron has had
a huge impact on my life to where the puppet nations in the game have moved me forward and instead of making nations out of actual countries in
the game,Iam planning to crave out 50 nations from the provinces or states
of the United States in real life.(Any suggestions?)

Thanks.

Why would you want to make 50 puppets! Make maximum 10 cause it can probaly be pretty hard to play as one of those 1/50 of USA. Besides they wouldnt be able to do anything :/

And besides, im no american but havent USA got 51-52 states?

Technically we have 50 states, and then alot of protectorate type lands. But there are only 50 states in the union currently with representatives in congress.

50 states would be pointless, they would only have 5 IC on average, some next to nothing, you wouldnt be able to do anything.

If you are going to break up america, Id keep it to US, CS, California, Deseret and New England.

50 states

Puerto Rico is a territory. every now and then there is talk about the possibility of allowing them to vote on whether to become a state or not. i am not sure if most of them would want to become a state and i am not sure how the rest of the country would act if they did.

Gitmo- military base, the cubans want us to leave but it will be a cold day in hell before that happens.

Guam (other islands in the area too) are territories too.

The US has a lot of small islands in the pacific that are pretty much the sole posession of the military (midway).

Iraq- puppet government propped up by the US military (do not respond to this).

US Virgin Islands- not sure what they are.

I am sure that i am missing some others but only 50 states.

The US Virgin Islands (former Danish West Indies purchased in 1917) are an unincorporated territory of the US. Policy relations between the Virgin Islands and the US fall under the jurisdiction of the Office of Insular Affairs, US Department of the Interior. They have a governor (Charles Wesley TURNBULL) and a unicameral 15-person Senate. Island residents are US citizens but they do not get to vote in US presidential elections.

And that was your useless bit of trivia for today ;)

44 if you count the little ones (the Vatican, Monaco, Liechtenstein, Andorra and San Marino) and the Really Big One (Russia). 25 of them in the EU.

Russia is not European.

It is a culture by itself, a mix of Asia, Orthodody, autoritarism, craziness, passion, poverty, endless steppes and dirty industrial compounds, drunks and blondes, and the most impredictable country in the world.

Definitely nothing like the old boring western europeans.

But I'm going OT. ;)

Lots of Europeans would probably claim that they are a culture by themselves... even within some countries. I was referring to geographic Europe, which is traditionally thought to extend to the Urals. So Russia is, at least in part, European.

I do not doubt the specific culture of each european nation, region, province and village :)
I was meaning : a specific cultural identity, separated from the Western Europe; by opposition, most European countries share a good amount of cultural, political, moral values. On those three points, Russia is totally different.

Why would a foreign occupying force recognize a nation's former borders? A lot of things based on US states are not very logical. Lines dividing states are somewhat random, done based on longitude and latitude rather than rational, natural, or demographic reasons. Chances are, regions would be created as logical ways to group certain peoples that are similar culturally, and geographically logical. Moutnain ranges, rivers, etc., would be dividing lines more than US political lines of division. Look at just about every other 'puppet' nation, it was a cultural map, resembling almost solely population demographics, with very little looking like previous borders, unless they happened to be based on population culture.

More so than Finland and Greece? Or Hungary and Portugal? Bosnia-Herzegovina and Luxemboug? Iceland and Cyprus? ;)
