IMO they're often much too strong in the current game, making it sometimes far too easy by producing hordes of infantry or militia. In some cases (China) one has to ask why such a country remains a puppet if it is able to maintain such large forces.

I think it would be nice to have some reasonable limits here. Maybe a puppet could get certain IC penalties?

Another thought I had: what if the 'master' had more control about what the puppet actually does, incl. its production? For example some master-puppet relations seem to suffer if the puppet has no convois to move it's excess stuff over to the master - what if if I could just tell my puppet to build some convois (or as another option, make convois tradeable in negotiations)?

But there could be other uses: maybe I want my puppet to produce supplies for me only. Or that it does only produce certain types of units at all, etc.

Good idea bebro about sharing production. I hope that it would not get too messy (too much micro management), but you could set percentages of what to be build, with the exact setup being the puppet's task?

I personally would like to see a tab on the various screens, like production & research. For instance, I have puppeted Italy and Hungary, so I can run them on those screens just as I would Germany by clicking on a tab and just scrolling through the puppets.

I also think that being able to trade consumer goods would be a huge improvement, as my industry wouldn't need to be making nylons and cooking utensils instead of tanks and planes.

when my puppets start researching advanced tank destroyer I get pretty pissed off. I wish I could tell them to research stuff. This has potential for abuse because you could have flanders do the infantry ones and have a blueprint for 51 infantry without spending any time on it yourself. If its limited to stuff you know or stuff within a couple years of the current date, then you can command your puppet to research it.

Your right, that could (and would) be abused. So how about being able to give "scientific aid" to a puppet?

I picture this like so: we can already supply a blueprint, but that is all right now. If we could just give them a tech, that would get abused to. So what if we could make an ally assign one of their tech teams to research a tech we have given them a BP for, and further speed things up by sending one of our spare TT along to assist.

We would still be limited to our five tech slots, but the 'away teams' wouldn't take one of these. Instead, they would just be like an attachment to the puppet's TT, and would increase the rate of progress made. Naturally, we would have to pay the full cost for this TT work (thus making sure they get paid).

This idea allows for using some of our 'spare' TT, allows us to speed up and (somewhat) control our puppets research, yet still requires that the research is paid for, so it won't be all to abused (keep in mind, the puppet still will have to use one of its TT slots).

Any thoughts?

I like those ideas. How about these:

In order to keep a puppet from achieving a WC, limit the total IC production of ground units to a small fraction of the total they possess, say 10-20%. All remaining IC's goto supplies, CG, convoys & escorts, and air units. This way, a puppets power is sharply limited, the master can get to control their production completely (within these guidelines) w/out upsetting things all that much, and gains the ability to focus their own domestic IC to a 'total war' setting (production, reinforcements, and upgrades. No supplies, no CG).

I first broached the idea of trading CG with blu emu way back here

Any thoughts?

Yeah if the puppet of Scandinavia had an AI that was offensive they would be such a huge help with USSR with the great techteams and hordes of infantry they produce. If you created it in 1940, by mid 1941 you would have a ally that could hold their own, and if the war lasted a couple years, pound one hell of beating in the North letting my Army group north help out Army group center and south, would be very nice when you are at war with USA also and cannot get the "bitter peace" event.
