Some stuff happened and I got pulled into a PU with France and idk if I can beat them. Let me briefly explain the situation.

I started the game as Naples and took control over most of Italy and then I started to colonize. France got into a PU with Castille and then annexed Castille and took over all of their colonies so France easily became the strongest nation in the game. The problem is that I was allied with them for a while until I converted to Protestant. So I planned to go to war with them and at the same time my ruler was 25 and didn't have an heir. I went to war with France and took over their Brazilian colonies but then my ruler died and a succession war started between the Commonwealth and France. France beat them pretty badly so I got stuck into a PU with France. My army size is roughly the same as France's but their colonies for some reason have over 25k troops each while my colonies have more land and development then them but can't seem to make 10k troops without their entire economy failing. I was just wondering if their was a way for me to beat France so I can gain independence or should I start a new game.

if you feel unsure about the possible independence war.... i'd restart and learn that the icon left above that is red etc... is not to be ignored.

in theory you can just do any war until you get an heir, and keep the war going forever.

regarding an independence war: if you can get enough support independence from rivals of france, it might be doable. france has to get YOUR capital as wargoal. if you fortify the Alpes you might declare independence and just let them try to beat you, with help from rivals of france.

it is NOT as hard as you might think. But a france owning entire Iberia might be serious challenge.. give it go and see :)
