So I've been trying to inherit Burgundy for hours now, and while my inheritance chance has been lower than in this picture due to Russian diplomatic interference most of the time, I can't help but wonder if PU inheritance is bugged in the current patch:
1650237247913.jpeg

I've made dozens of attempts, with the game suspiciously crashing whenever my ruler died without the inheritance, but Burgundy just refuses to be inherited.

Also, I gained the PU via the Burgundian Succession event chain, but the final event in which Burgundy is fully inherited by their senior partner didn't trigger, so if there's nothing wrong with PUs in general in 1.33, maybe there's an issue with this particular PU.

There's still a chance that I simply had really bad luck, so before I go ahead and open a bug report - did anyone else encounter suspicious PU behavior in the current patch?

I had an unlikely inheritance happen as Spain where I incorporated Naples (maybe a 10% chance if I'm reading the wiki right) so I know that inheritances do happen. No idea about Burgundian shenanigans though.

I had a succession war for castile with Aragon as France that's actually when the burgundy thing fired and I ended up fighting Austria in a humiliating game ending unwinnable war lol.

You can't easily savescum PU inheritance, because there is not a random dice roll when your ruler dies. Instead there is a calculation which depends on a bunch of factors some of which are somewhat random(e.g. the ID of your ruler and the HRE emperor), but don't change often. You can find more details in the following post:
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...lly-works-hint-it-is-not-a-dice-roll.1508465/

The event The Duchess of Burgundy Dies needs the modifier mary_is_on_the_throne which only lasts for 40 years. Afterwards the event can't happen. And because it has an MTTH of 15 years and can't happen when you are at war, it is not guaranteed that it will happen at all

Mary dying can't fire when you're at war, only when at peace can it fire

Ok, this one is pretty interesting. I didn't know that.

I got the "The Duchess of Burgundy Dies" event basically every time I played as a Christian monarchy since Emperor came out. Guess I was just really lucky before - I'm usually not at peace for long - and rather unlucky this time. I can confirm that inheritance works, though:
