My last game was an attempt to play life-seeded authoritarian / spiritual empire. Use stratified society to combat lack of consumer goods on low habitability planet. ( I also took non-adaptive which is free point ).

Everything worked until I chose mind over matter which converted my species into subspecies. After that every planet except Gaia has a flat -5 pop decline.

Does anyone know the logic behind it or is it just another hidden bug?

Are they migrating to your gaia worlds? The only thing else I could think of is that the newly created subspecies are considered as undesirables. Did you set your default species rights to undesirables?

Make a bug report. There is a mechanic that if one species has 3 times for growth weight than another, the other declines. Life seeded species seem to have a weight of zero... (I tried increasing the "3" to 1000000 and it didn't change so it must be zero or negative). So they always decline if there is any other species on the planet...

Only way you can "fix" is yourself is editing the save and switching non-adaptive to adaptive.

IMHO, the whole mechanic is broken. Why would a species just start DYING (they are not moving anywhere) just because there now is another species on the planet... In my case it was the overlords suddenly dying when they gained access to slaves...
"Finally we have some slaves adapted to the planet that can go into the mines for us. Life is going to be so much easier just doing administrative jobs in our artificial climate domes... *starts dying*"

Are there any other species in your empire at all?
From your species tab, in your empire do you have more than just 1 species with any pops in it listed?

Edit: Actually, can you just upload a save?

Unfortunately, the save is gone. On the species tab there was my main species ( 0 pop ) and subspecies created by mind over matter.

This issue seems to be replicable by following steps:

- play life-seeded
- settle on 0 habitability planet
- pick mind over matter

boom, everyone on those planets start dying.

So, without the save I cant test too much.

Your species is supposed to start declining when another species has 3x growth priority, as someone else mentioned. This can almost never happen outside of species with 0% habitability sharing a world with a species with a higher habitability than that.

If there is no way for any other species to either grow on or migrate too your world then your pops should not be declining.
That would make it a bug.

There are a number of other issues with both the Synthetic and Psionic Ascension paths this patch. Its very very broken, if this is a bug its simply one among many.

But there is only one species on the planet and it just kept declining.
Doesn't change the fact that it started the moment a second species was created. If you actually want to do some testing, compare what happens if you apply psionic stuff to the main species in the save game WITHOUT creating a new species vs doing mind over matter.

Also, I'm very sure the fix I suggested would have allowed you to continue your game.
