NOTE: This only concerns players playing/having installed the game through the Paradox Launcher

Hey everyone! We recently found the cause of a crash bug in the Plaza launcher version since the latest patch! A fix is already on the way however we will not be able to get it out before the holidays, as such here's a nifty workaround in the meantime should you experience occasional or frequent crashing in the Plaza version. Here's a more technical description from our #DevFolk here at Paradox:
The latest patch of BATTLETECH is exhibiting some anomalous behaviour - The game may freeze on a loading screen when run in its default state when installed through the Paradox Launcher on Windows: The game modifies files in its installation directory, which by default is located under "Program Files".

As the default directory is usually not writable by normal users, the game will crash on startup due to not being able to complete the write operations it needs.

Fear not - A patch is being prepared and will be available after the new year. Additionally there are...

WORKAROUNDS
A) Run the launcher (or the game binary directly, whatever is your preferred method) with Administrator privileges. This will give the game the requisite clout to write in the "Program Files" directory.

Or alternatively

B) Give your standard user write privileges in the BATTLETECH install directory. If you are comfortable with modifying access privileges, this would be the preferred method.

We apologize for the inconvenience!

how about fixing the paradox launcher to update the game to 1.3.2...stuck on 1.3.0

I have to agree. When you literally have to be a computer engineer to get the game to reinstall because the launcher is just THAT bad, idc how successful your game was, you have failed as a game developer and/or publisher.
