Wonderful to see another update here. It looks like World War 2 is quickly turning into the end of the second hundred years war, this time between Germany and France. Won't Russia gladly attack Poland if allied with France in that situation? If so, how long could the Poles hold the Russians off, I wonder?

Thanks you, you support is welcome, as always.

I have some pictures that I want to be transformed into minister/leader pics (I've tried it myself, and I can't get it to work) so if anyone with the know-how would care to transform them for me, I would be grateful. :)

I'd be happy to help with any graphics! Especially if it keeps the updates coming!! :D

coz1: It'll be interesting to see what the Russians do if there's war in the west. Finland, Poland, and the Baltic states might be in a spot of bother.

Nikolai: Turkey? Ha! ;)

T-hiddemen: Sir Clive provided me with what I needed, for the moment at least. But thanks anyway. :)

GhostWriter: Danke.

stephanbathory: I doubt it. Trotsky won't consent to it, unlike Daladier in real life. If Czechoslovakia does meet it's demise, then it'll be through a shooting match.

Cloudyvortex: Thanks. My old machine was six years old, which is pretty much pre-historic in PC terms, and it was frankly a bit of a bloody nuisance. I wouldn't say it was beloved, by any stretch. :D Now with my new machine, we're all set up.

T-hiddemen: Indeed!

Indeed, but I think the best we can count on from them is neutrality. What exactly could Germany offer them that they'd be seriously consider?

In an event of war, land in the Middle East, Georgia/Armenia and on the Balkans? During peace time, technology, military training and economic benefits?

VJ,

Excellently written. Considering the ideological kinship between France and the Soviet Union, and the Franco-Italian agreement, it is surprising that Britain did not seek closer relations with Germany sooner and with more enthusiasm. After all, the Mediterranean is the empire's lifeline and France and Italy have effectively divided it into spheres of influence - I'd expect Britain to shift her attention southward any time soon... :)

Excellent update. It seems like the unpredictable political atmosphere in Berlin will continue to cause problems for Germany. If diplomatic emberassment is the worst of it they'll be lucky, I think.

Very nice, well written as always and very interesting. In fact without getting out some books I can't always tell what is real and what is alternate history in your updates.
I have this very same problem! This serves to, both, encourage me that I know enough that I recognize a great deal of these things, and humble me by showing that I have precious little idea exactly what little, subtle things have changed...

But you will be glad to know that I am in negotiations with Bill Gates/MicroSoft to get a "track changes" feature, for use on this AAR!

VJ, this is a masterpiece! I love the comprehensive historical accuracy tempered with reasonable changes -- sometimes subtle, sometimes major.

Oh! Btw... I have a fascinating book that helped me get up to speed on many of these things. It's by some guy named Hasluck, and it's a book about foreign affairs in the inter-war years (1919-1937), WRITTEN in 1937!!! It's a truly incomparable look at the lead-up to WWII from the perspective of someone living through the times and knowing that something is up... just not exactly what. He goes through each country of the world, describing the major historical and political events and influences. A great study. Not sure how many copies exist, though... Good luck finding it, if you care to look.

stephanbathory, Nikolai, Draco Rexus: Oh, I don't intend to let the Turks fall into a hostile camp, but I think recruiting them would be harder than simply promising the Middle East to them - that strategy wasn't viable in real life, after all, and it won't be if the Turks know that there's nothing to back it up - I don't intend to send a kind of Zimmerman Telegram of the Middle East. ;) . Unless there's some pressing need to recruit Turkey, then I'm content to let them slumber.

And besides, Britain is our friend!

Allenby: Indeed. I'm betting that Britain here will have a very strong focus on the Meditteranean and the Far East, and will probably be content to simply assist the German materially whilst they battle against the French and (possibly) the Italians for them by proxy.

VILenin: It's to be hoped that people have learned lessons from this experience. Altough I bet Papen is pretty cheesed off by it all. :D

Rensslaer: Well, thank you for the compliments. :) That sounds like a really interesting book!

T-hiddemen: Yes, sir!

Round about how soon will the mod be comming? AH mods always intreague me, but HOI2 has few because of complexity. My hat's off to you for trying.
