Thanks, Tim. An update will be here sooner rather than later.

People might be interested to note that I've generally fleshed-out how this AAR will progress, and ultimately, end, now. It's just a question of writing it all and playing the game! (Finally.)

And Jesus, I'm still editing the game startup for 1936. Now I know how Yogi felt with 'The Eagle'.

Ah! so you also realise the inevatibility of British domination!! ;)

Bravo! More! :)

SirCliveWolfe: I couldn't honestly say how Britain will do here, yet. That would be giving too much away. ;)

Well, I reasoned that a Mosley here could - I know it's stretching the bounds a little - capture three seats.

Helped by blackshirts hanging around polling stations, yes? ;)

I just read this whole AAR today and it's awesome. As one with a B.A. in Political Science and intense interest in German/British politics, it's right up my ally.

I find it a little interesting that the French are so willing to let a non-Frenchman run the show! Well it is France...and Napoleon was from the islands heheh

RogersRanger: Thank you!

Oranje Verzet, GhsotWriter: A slight problem has arisen, in so far as my PC has crashed, taking all the modding with it, and is now refusing to accept a re-format. So I essentially can't play the game. I will, however, be continuing here, in the hope that I can find a solution, be it either through getting my new PC fixed, or buying a new PC around Christmas time. Or find out some way to actually get my PC to accept a re-format.

Well, "transferring the files to a disk using DOS" is simple enough if any of the files still exist, but if "all the modded files went with it", then they don't. What happened exactly? Have the program and the saved games been deleted? Or is it "simply" an issue of the program becoming corrupted and no longer usable?

I think i have had the same thing once. If he doesnt accept a reformat then it can be that the whole thing is broken but also that there is only one hardware issue. My videocard once blocked me from doing that.

What happens if you start up the PC? If you can get into DOS, at start up it should be possible to put it on a disk. But it will be quite the operation with all those files.

I cant believe it all that hard work and now this. There should be a real expert who knows if there is anthing to safe. Help? SOS

I can get into DOS easy enough, but Windows seems to be unstable now, even when I can actually get it to boot. I've tried reformating, but I'm told by the Wizard that the C drive is write-protected.

All the stuff will still be on the drive, I imagine, but there's no way I can access it atm. Unless there's some way I can access it via DOS.

If you can get into DOS you should be able to copy it on a disk. But like i said the size might be a problem. You will need a lot of floppy disks unless you can copy it onto something else, but im not sure a memory stick for example works in DOS.

Wizard we need ur help.

from what I know DOS does not support USB, and thus prevent the use of memory sticks. But I think it must be possible to find programms running under DOS and activating a USB. An other solution is to connect another hard disk inside the computer. There they are two possibilities : if the new hard disk is windows equiped the user can make it primary HDD and the damaged one secondary, which should enable the user to boot on the new HDD with the good windows. The other solution being to use the new HDD as a floppy under DOS, saving a lot of time !

Yes, you can access the files while in DOS, if by "access" you mean "copy to someplace safe".

Do you know the path that you installed HoI2 to? The default? or something else?
