I know it is fair. Though, is there a way to "request" for them not to partake in *my* war?

EDIT: As they always have the option of "getting there first" and if you are trying to conquer a specific region, than having to fight your allies is a pain in the butt.

The only time I've painted neat borders in this game, even selling good provinces, was in my Brandenburg<Prussia<Germany game. So fun to add Silesia, the Grand Duchy of Posen and West Prussia. I'm sure the real reason wars are fought is simply to make one's nation an appealing shape. :D

Honestly that is the reason I fight wars as odd as it sounds. If I were playing Scicily, I only want its historical borders. Same with Germany.

You don't need to cancel your alliances, though.
Just move your troops around the targets you want to grab in the treaty via asking for military access around you before getting the war started.

It looks like all German region provinces should get an increase. In other similar decisions, it explicitly states either the capital or a single random province.

I guess I can find out in about 3 game years...

The German Nation event does give a +1 Tax (it is the only nation forming that does so) in all German region provinces whether you own them or not. Add in the cores and you can quickly become a behemoth.

That is how I would expect that code to behave, it's certainly the way it works for cores...
