Trying a brave new format...

OPERATION: SPRINGBOARD

And so, on Lennon's orders, the Texan Red armed forces began Operation: Springboard. It's goal: to liberate the workers of the Dominican Republic and Haiti, and to provide the People's Republic with a strategic base even closer to its next objective.

On March 29, 1937, the People's Republic of Texas took the first step towards its greater goals....

Immediately, an invasion force - using Texas' only naval vessels in operation - was dispatched to secure the landing beaches in Santiago. They arrived on April 3, landing unopposed as planned. However, the strangest thing happened... the Dominican army, thought to be all of one unit, was missing. The road to Santo Domingo and victory over the Dominican Republic was unhindered!

Before a full investigation into the Dominican army's whereabouts could be launched, Texan Intelligence caught word of a nefarious capitalist plot in Europe. It was, however, unsuccessful.

And soon enough, the enemy force surfaced in an unlikely place: Cuba. The foremost military genius in the Dominican Republic had decided that rather than defend the capital, its army would invade Texan-held territory.

PRT5.jpg

While dubious in its intention, the move was unexpected by the Texan Red Army, which quickly moved to counter the sudden invasion...

The attack on Guantanamo stemmed, the Texan Red Army's forces on Hispanola rolled forward unopposed. It was only a matter of travelling time before the Dominican Republic's regime was overthrown, and the land joined with the People's Republic of Texas. The Dominican army, without a country to go back to, surrendered to the Red Army. And there was much rejoicing.

While the Texan forces prepared for the second stage of Operation: Springboard, a new armored division was deployed in Tulsa. Comrade General Red Weststone took command of the unit, along the border with the United States of Oppression...

In short order, the PRT declared war on the kleptocratic Haitian regime as well, and launched its offensive to unite the island...

PRT9.jpg

Try as they might, the Haitian army could do nothing to stem the irresistable Red tide, as the Texan Red Army won another victory for the Proletariat. The opposition defeated, the Red Army's tanks rolled into Port-au-Prince triumphantly.

With the Haitian regime dispatched, everything was going quite well for the People's Republic. Even production was going well - the Red Navy was busy building its first warships... destroyers.

On April 24, Haiti officially surrendered and was annexed into the People's Republic of Texas. Now, the glorious victory of the Proletariat in the Americas was one step closer to reality. The liberation of an entire continent was at hand. All that remained to be seen was when the Revolution would be brought there.

Ab... nevermind. Map of the People's Republic of Texas, April 24, 1937.

Go for the petrol (Venezuela and so on)!

Venezuela DOES have alot of oil. As your minister of armaments and industry, I wouldnt advise against liberating these and other such resources from south America. Oh, and dont forget the workers!

The next thing you do, invade Venezuela! :)

Post-Springboard Occurances

After Operation: Springboard's success, the People's Republic of Texas continued unhindered towards its destiny to unite the workers of the Americas under the Revolution. The greatest tests of the Texan Proletariat were still to come, but the Red Armed Forces were ready to give it their all. All were ready to lay down their lives for their oppressed working class brothers and sisters in South America... and for a chance to pick up some loot or booze.

One thing the People's Republic would need was petroleum, which was in quite an abundance in a certain South American nation. But that was far from Texan minds when the decision was made to liberate the workers of Venezuela. Yes.. far, far from Texan minds.

PRT1a.jpg

The sinister Venezuelan enemy of the working class.. Not about the petrol at all...
PRT1-1.jpg

Venezuela's most important provinces are hilighted... definitely not about their oil, though.

Before that could get underway, however, the forces needed for such an operation were to be mustered in Hispanola. Which would take a while, as the Texan Red Navy consisted of just two transports at the beginning. Meanwhile, further progress was made by the Proletariat in the Texan Motherland! As well as some news in foreign affairs...

PRT2.jpg

Three fascist nations sign a pact to say 'we don't like Reds'. Lennon offered only a shrug, saying 'Bah, what're they going to do to us?'

In better news for the People's Republic, another research project was completed. A new project was swiftly undertaken with the available slot:

Comrade General Weststone's force also gained another armored division, as Texan production continued to roll out weapons of war along with civillian products..

Also off the production lines came the Texan Red Navy's first warships: a flotilla of destroyers! They were attached to the two transport ships already in service under Admiral Headwind.

The Red Navy can defend itself now!

Soon, even more progress was made on the research front:

And a certain Basque tank manufacturing firm was brought into play at last for the next project:

Elsewhere in the world, Japan became bored of peace and went to war against several Chinese warlords. In the People's Republic, no one really cared.
PRT9-1.jpg

After that, all the Texan forces needed for the first foray into South America had been assembled. It was time to enact the invasion that would finally liberate the workers of Venezuela from their evil capitalist oppressors! For lack of a better name, it was dubbed Operation: Interests Lennon...

PRT10-1.jpg

O.I.L. finally begins!

Haha, Operation O.I.L has NOTHING to do with Petrol!

I get it!

(Good Luck!) ;)

Cool! I am most pleased that the the oil *ahem* workers of Venezuela will finally be liberated!

Is Rear Admiral Headwinds Picture Toshiro Mifune? If so, thats pretty awesome.

And a certain Basque tank manufacturing firm was brought into play at last for the next project:

w00t! :D

Go O.I.L!

Oil? Who cares about oil?

Good old Tommassi, perhaps.

Sorry, a Spamiard joke...

Well, so Venezuela is going to be invaded... Errr... When you'll capture the president of Venezuela, would you be so kind, please, to tell him

"From Spain, with love:

WHY DON'T SHUT UP, DUDE!?!?"

:D

You are Texas? You have enough oil in your own country! :D

Operation: Interests Lennon

After several hours of planning (and partying), the People's Republic of Texas had finally made its first move toward liberating South American workers, declaring war on Venezuela. Not thinking at all about their vast oil reserves, the Red Army's first landing party was transported to the first objective in that evil, capitalist nation.

D-Day; Texan forces set out for Venezuela on June 8, 1937.

Almost immediately after Comrade General Weststone's armor secured Maraciabo, the upstart Venezuelan navy assailed the glorious Texan Red Navy...

The Venezuelan plot undone: our glorious Red Navy triumphs!

That victory in hand, the Red Navy continued to transport the invasion forces to the secured beach head of Maracaibo. Meanwhile, the Red Army launched its attack upon Caracas, the Venezuelan capital.

Outgunned and fearful of fighting such a mighty assemblage of Proletariats, the Venezuelan army was defeated. As they retreated, Comrade Weststone's armor moved in to secure the capital, and thereby victory over Venezeula!

Meanwhile, the entire invasion force had landed in Maracaibo, and the second stage of Comrade Lennon's glorious plan for the liberation of South American workers was launched...
