Provinces defecting

In my recent game as Persia Timurids got a revolt with Persian patriots. They managed to occupy 2 out of 4 provinces with Persian culture. I supported them since the very beginning. And when they finally managed to enforce their demands a 2 province minor Taberestan (a vassal of QQ) got all FOUR provinces. How is this supposed to work? Their main culture isn't even Persian.

I don't have an answer for you but I can confirm this. In one of my games I had Persia as a vassal and was feeding it's cores back to it from Timurids. I had supported Persian rebels during the war and got them to rebel. I took Persian provinces they weren't occupying and some other non Persian provinces the plan that my vassal would get them for free in a few years. Instead of defecting to Persia though, like in your game they went to Tabarestan.

That would be WAD, as rebels aren't supposed to defect to subject nations unless there are no alternatives available. OP is describing the exact opposite, which seems very strange.

Vassals seem slightly buggy. I'm having an issue with Tabarestan in my game. They're a Timurid vassal, and they keep embargoing me. I was unaware that vassals could even embargo, but there they go. This is despite me having an almost 200 year alliance with the Timurids too.

In my most recent Castile game after swallowing Portugal, the provinces that had a chance to revolt said that they would join Aragon, which was in a PU under me until tech 10, so I was like fine, rebel if you want, but they never actually did.

That Persia game was really weird overall. In 1470s I noticed that France had cores all over Spanish Netherlands, Timurids had some on Uzbek territory and Ottomans gained additional one in QQ.
