Quick question here. I was wondering if there were any special events that triggered once you unite one of the provinces?

As far as I can tell, no. At least not for Cyrodiil, Skyrim, and High Rock. There are events related to those titles however, such as holding the High Kingdom of Cyrodiil (or the Cyrodiilic Empire or Empire of Tamriel) allows you to hold what I think is called the "White-Gold Coronation" that ends with your character attempting to light the Dragonfires.
what are the requirements to succesfully light the Dragonfires? I assume something like Dragonborn or Dragonblood trait? maybe the Reman bloodline trait?
Dragonborn/Dragonblood/Septim Bloodline/Divine Bloodline/Amulet of Kings/Possibly the Reman bloodline?
In order to be guaranteed to light the dragonfires, you need BOTH the Amulet of Kings and one of the following: Dragonborn, Dragonblood, Divine Bloodline (if you found the Empire of Tamriel, it is given to you, your children, and your sons' children on your death), Reman Bloodline, or a descendant of Tiber Septim if you manually pick a start date after he unites Tamriel). If you have neither the Amulet nor one of the bloodlines, you have a very small (10%) chance of succeeding. Having the Amulet OR one of the mentioned bloodlines, you have a fairly good chance (70% for just the Amulet and 60% with just a bloodline) of succeeding. As I said before, having both guarantees it. But you also can't be a member of a Daedric Cult for obvious reasons, and you can't follow the Reachman's faiths
