Many of the Protestant churches were state churches, so they should have mechanic modeling the state's effort to bring the church under its power. Orthodox Christianity already has a mechanic similar to this, so it wouldn't be difficult to create a re themed version for the Protestants. Rather than patriarch authority the Protestants should track the church's subordination to the state, and its integration into the government. The bonuses for a Protestant country would be increased revenue and stability as the church lands are better integrated into the tax base, and the clergy is more supportive of the government, but the downsides of the state's increasing influence would be a penalty to heretic tolerance and conversion of heretics as the state would be more discriminate against heresy when the state church is so important, and such an obvious tool of the government would have less appeal for potential converts.

Unless of course someone has a better idea for how to represent the Protestant Churches, or has better ideas for modifiers.

Another possible slider would be between a more traditionalist faction (who wanted an organisation that looked a lot like the Catholic church, just with the King as the head of it instead of the Pope) and a more fundamentalist faction (who rejected hierarchy and elaborate rituals, and emphasised the Bible as the ultimate authority). The struggle between these factions was a big deal in England, for example, and neither faction was particularly tolerant. The former would give 'state power'-type bonuses like tax income, legitimacy or (a small amount of) ticking LA reduction, and the latter more 'fervent/radical' bonuses like idea cost or morale. It could be something like the Muslim piety slider where staying in the middle is bad, except unlike Muslim piety, it wouldn't be reset every time the ruler dies.

The protestants could basically use the Muslim piety system, but with different rewards.

A low piety protestant would have an advantage in trade income and production.

A high piety protestant would have an advantage in manpower and government reforms, conferring various events where the king reforms the justice system, administration and such.

Historically, the protestants came in the various forms, going from ISIS-like monsters to enlightened reformers, depending on the circumstances and the people involved. A super aggressive protestant king (high piety) would try to reform his administration in order to raise as many men and as much money as possible to wage the holy war against the satanic papists. A low piety protestant would be more inclined to use the new religion to avoid religious restrictions on trade and commerce, while ignoring the cosmic battles with Rome.
