So... In the stream today, we saw that Malaya was a Protectorate of GB.

So who wants to guess what that's about. Some sort of new non integrable foreign vassal, over in Asia?

Did anyone else see this or are my eyes deceiving me?

Also such a shame we didn't see what the final tab of the nation screen does when you are a colonial major.

My guess they will be identical to HRE princes. You have to defend them but you cannot tax them and they can start offensive wars.

I'm pretty sure they've already been explained. Aren't they like vassals but with more autonomy?

In office multiplayer Hindustan was protectorate of Johan's Morocco, so everything is ok with your eyes It's probably something like vassalage, but overlord have to be western country, and he rules over less advanced state.

Good to hear this is being added. I hope there aren't too many arbitrary requirements as to who can be a protectorate of who, because for me it should be like vassalage but less controlling and more adaptable. I also hope that protectorates show under the sphere of influence map mode, and that there's a way to gradually transfer them into vassalage or something.

Guarantee independence < Protectorate < Vassalage < Personal Union < Annexation

Yeah that's the window I was talking about when I said the colonial interface, last tab. It's just it was never clicked on
