I'm playing as Lübeck which give me pretty good opportunities with trade but there is something happening that I don't know why.

When I select my light ships to protect trade and I hold the mouse over the button "Send" to different trade nodes it says how much the change of profit it will bring me. The strange part is that my home trade node in Lübeck where I collect trade with one of my merchants usually has the lowest #promised profit" of all of the nodes but the end result is that I always get way more to protect trade in my home node even if it doesn't say so and this has been the case through all of my game and I'm now in year 1595.

I've been reading from other players is that you should get a bigger profit in other nodes then your home node. Anybody know why this happens for me?

Did they fix that tooltip? I can't remember a single patch where it was actually working.

It does give you a rough idea of what's going to happen, which is an improvement over the old situation (0 information given), but I wouldn't take the information given as a fact.

Either way, protecting trade is money wasted. Pirating is what earns you money.

Throw some light ships into the English Channel. You'll get more money than you pay in maintenance.

I cannot really help you, but I have a related question:
I basically never use light ships. Can anybody tell me in which kind of situations it is worth it to invest hundreds of ducats for building and maintaining light ships for trade protection?
