Some things I would love, after playing as long as I have:
Make POPs easier to understand (dont just make it easy, keep it hard-ish, but make it easier to understand.)
Make the economy aspect easier to understand as well, I cant count the number of times my pops have been unhappy and my factories have been struggling and I cant figure out why.
And add an extra starting date, like maybe the Berlin conference.
Also would be great to see the AI fight wars better, so instead of creating massive stacks that get wiped out due to attrition and bad mix of troops, the AI creates proper armies and attacks with some decent stratagems.
Would also be nice to see the Ottoman Balkans and the AustroHungarian empire collapse into a ton of mini states in the 1880s-1930s

Honestly, some of the things that V3 would need to avoid V2's annoying dramatic failure modes are likely to imply the economic and demographic models will be even more complex. The user interface could certainly stand to be improved on that subject, though.

The subject of the unlikelihood of extra start dates has been covered repeatedly at great length :)

That's a universal desire for all players of all Paradox gamelines :)

Everything required for that to happen is already present in V2 and just needs tuning to give an appropriate frequency of outcome :)

Having a better user interface is all I would really like to see from that, everything else is fine IMAO, the dramatic failures add a but of fun to an otherwise boring system (in my opinion)

Yea, ik, would be nice to see however. As vicky II does not do WWI very well (I have yet to see any grand strategy game, whether it is a table top or virtual, recreate WWI well) it would be nice to have a bit more options with game starts.

While it is in the game, I rarely see Austria or the Ottomans collapse like they did in the 1880s-1920s. In fact, more often than not, the Russian empire and mainland Spain falls apart more often than anything. I have yet to see Ireland gain their freedom too. I just think it should be a bit more frequent.

To be fair if Britain wanted Ireland to stay the most likely could have made them stay considering the power of the UK

If I recall correctly (don't know much Irish history), but teh main reason why the Irish got independence was due to the fact that the Irish were pressing and revolting during the WWI timeframe and the British didn't want a revolt in their European territories during the war.

I could of course be totally wrong though.

Well then it makes sense is the UK isnt fighting a world war then Ireland shouldn't have much f a chance.

I see the Turks collapse in on themselves all the time. Austrian collapses are a lot rarer, but that's reasonable. The Austrian Empire was a lot more stable than pop history usually gives it credit for, and there's no reason for it to collapse barring a devestating defeat in a major war.

I think the an aspect that could be greatly explored is the political system in Victoria. If they go into great detail they can add parliaments and many political parties with their own internal squabbles and political powerplays that would definately make it more interesting and more sense. It would also get rid of the odd 50.1% rule to pass a reform when a parliament generally doesn't consist of 1000 seats, but instead just needing a majority of seats to pass your reform from even other parties that don't initially support you. It might also give way to the use of characters in government (a bit like in HOI 3 although I don't expect them to add every historical figure but rather just generate them with a few base portraits).

The economic system should not be changed into the childish Total War trade system between two nations like some people in this thread suggest, since that is not how the world economy has ever worked save for military supplies through wartime deals. If you do that then you can better just stop producing a Victoria III and more on to a Victoria Total War since Paradox Games aren't here for the weak of mind.

The AI needs to get a bit smarter in managing factories and money since poor choice made by the AI can result in your country collapsing economically. Perhaps it might be something to add companies to the game with the factory system integrated in companies so that the AI has both an easier time using money (since it would only have to focus on companies instead of every individual factory) and it can add an entirely new dimension to the capitalist system if you include the production of non-factory goods in the hands of companies or other possibilities (such as the state managing the production of cash crops in colonies through a big state company such as in the Dutch East Indies before 1899).

The army system is probably one of the worst aspects of Victoria II although I'm not sure how to change it. Perhaps it might be something to include a few aspects from HOI into armies.

It might be needed to divide the map further up into even more provinces to the number of those in HOI III or even a bit more, but streamline several aspects of building improvements such as forts so that the provinces don't become too much to micromanage. I think they should give railroads an upkeep in money and recourses to avoid having railroads in every single province if they divide the map up, so that companies and players are forced down a historic route of only connecting the major towns, cities and industrial (mining) areas with eachother.

Pops and national foci might need a bit of an overhaul as in that pops might need to manage themselves a bit more properly as it is a hell managing the number of clerics and officers.

The colonial system could get an overhaul as in that colonies could have political systems within their borders that need to be cooperated with (for example the Dutch East Indian Regent system where provinces were managed by a mixed administration of a native ruler and his court and a Dutch official, and the Princely States in India) to give it an extra dimension.

I would like the Alt history posters (Bismark vs Confederate Ironclads) carried over for advertising of Victoria III.

Gettysburg address but with Vikings (One nation under Odin)
The Roman Empress talking about the Responsibility of being a Great power to her son and Heir (May sun never sets on the Roman Empire)
The Peoples Republic of Jerusalem (For a Poster)
The Chancellor of the Incan Empire giving Bismarck's Blood and Iron Speach to the Incan Parliament (Blood, Iron, and Inti)

AFAIK there are no "regionalist" parties in Vicky II. And that's a great shame. There were regional parties in the time period (Irish political groups in the UK, Polish club in Austria). I'd also love to see some depth given into home rule - like autonomies, federal legislatures etc. But I'm afraid it would be too much..

There are several problems along that line. It's always deeply jarring in the Low Countries to look at a POP that is 90% Protestant and see that it's supporting the Roomskatholieke Partij.

The army system is probably one of the worst aspects of Victoria II although I'm not sure how to change it. Perhaps it might be something to include a few aspects from HOI into armies.
...
I'd like to add to this that in real life the army always played a crucial role in rebellions/revolts and whether they suppressed it or joined it often decided the outcome. Also high ranking military personnel often played a huge role in politics as well (think of south america, france, germany, usa). I feel those aspects of the army should also be represented in Victoria 3.

That's (at least part of) why army brigades are linked to specific Soldier POPs rather than a national manpower pool.

There are several problems along that line. It's always deeply jarring in the Low Countries to look at a POP that is 90% Protestant and see that it's supporting the Roomskatholieke Partij.
Yes, that's what I'm talking about. It would be great if parties could be separated with regards to their attitudes towards specific nationalities or religions.
Also plebiscites in order to ease tense (or referendums) would be great.

Oh, and British POPs in Ireland voting for Sinn Fein - priceless.

Completely agree, internal politics is the only aspect of the game that I dislike. Rebels are just hordes that hardly ever are interesting (Either you overwhelm them or they overwhelm you). Parties feel static and just sit there doing nothing until people elects them and that's about it.

I would like mostly three things: coup d'êtats, decentralization, and internal factions, that could be represented by parties, giving them more flavour and the ability to do things (like promoving coups) during dictatorships or limited democracies.

I know it's easier said than done, but I do feel that area needs some work.

That's (at least part of) why army brigades are linked to specific Soldier POPs rather than a national manpower pool.
I was talking about commanders rather than soldiers.

I would love a map that is a little more detailed (mountainranges and rivers between areas!), also to make more historical borders possible and to model agglomerations better. Here my proposal for central europe devided into regions into provinces into counties; with provincial and regional centres.
