Who knows what satisfaction these people derive from kissing code monkey company butt. Happens across every genre and company, you always get them ready to defend. No idea.

Nah, I just find it anoying when a shortcoming on a luxury product like a video game is treated about as important a shortcoming in, say, cancer medication.

Zed, thank you for all your work. Your name attached to a building virtually guarantees I will download it, as the quality is always so high. I guess the crashing asset editor in particular is hugely frustrating, but please don't lose faith. The game is so much better because of what you and others do - selfishly, it would be such a shame to lose your design skills.

For what it's worth, I really don't believe anyone at CO would deliberately mislead or break promises - they have always come across to me as making an honest effort to make and improve the game, even if I am not always enthusiastic about their choices. Perhaps it is simply the case that demand and expectation outstrips the pace at which they can respond and provide solutions?
^^ each and every bit of this

Ah, the "Children Starving in Africa" Defense, it's not as bad as Children Starving in Africa so that means no one's allowed to ever complain or ever be unsatisfied.

No, the 'its a damn video game, so lay off the caps lock and take a deep breath and express your concerns like a rational human being, rather than a distraught caricature' defense.

I, myself, find the comparatively slow development cycle of Cities to be less than satisfactory. Two relatively minor DLC in a year, whereas P'dox itself averages 3+ for their titles, and even more solid patches. EU4, for example, is currently on patch 1.16, and 1.17 is imminent. That is more than 6 substantial patches per year, while CO has managed 4 (conveniently, the exact same ratio). I understand that CO has fewer resources than Paradox, but that does not diminish my appetite for more material, and there is no shortage of improvements that I would like to see within the development cycle of this game.

See? I don't absolutely disagree with the OP's point. I just disagree with the hysterics.

Hm... and such great patches we've had for EU4 and Ck2 lately...

They're just terrible at their jobs. This isn't their first game or the first time they've behaved this way with development. Either they're chronically unable to learn how to manage their time or they're doing this on purpose. Either way it makes them look bad. CO broke draw distance for foliage months ago in one of their patches. I haven't even seen them acknowledge that it's screwed up.

Dude you have got to seriously calm down. Some people loose jobs, their homes. Family members get sick. Siblings or parents die. And you get this stressed over a game? For the sake of your own health and the happiness of those around you, calm the Hell down.

CO broke draw distance for foliage months ago in one of their patches. I haven't even seen them acknowledge that it's screwed up.

They've brought out some pretty major improvements over the past year, but it seems every great new feature comes with some major flaw or caveat, like locking euro buildings to a map theme when everyone wanted district styles, not fully realizing the day/night cycle (24/7 schools etc.), messing up the saturation and brightness (they -still- haven't fixed this, making Daylight Classic one of the most essential mods. They said about 8 months ago they were "looking into it"...). Also they frequently break stuff that should have been noticed during the beta, like cargo stations not functioning with bike lanes, trees rendering incorrectly, reflections after rain being way overdone, pedestrians getting stuck on paths etc.

I think they need to hire more beta testers or possibly run an open beta before they release patches. Their intentions are good, but the actual implementation often feels half-baked.
