I never posted in Agorath, but it looked really interesting. By the time I was thinking about joining, however, it was in the middle of the action on page 40 or something like that.

I would really like to participate in this, but I have a question first. What do you think that time commitment will be like? I don't want to make a commitment that I won't be able to keep and end up holding up other players RP.

Matth covers it pretty well. ICs will be done at your leisure, while orders will be submitted once a week. If you find that you are unable to submit orders one week, you may arrange a substitute or simply skip orders for a week to bank your income and have your troops stand their ground.

I know you're not accepting sign-ups yet, but voicing our desires now can't hurt :p

Me and Noco would like to try and get a place next door to each other, both of us being in Starhold being our favourite example, as we have decided to intertwine our lore quite significantly. Just putting out my request! :p

You're right, it certainly doesn't hurt.

With Agorath ending in the weeks to come, and Rheagonn gearing up to open soon after, I've decided to open up a channel for this game, rather then using the Agorath chat channel.

Type /join #Rheagonn on coldfront to join the discussion.

The Recitation

The Word of God

As was spoken by Vladimir of the Cross

The Prophet of God lived in the city of Karakgrad. The Eastern Empire ruled the city of the Prophet of God. The Eastern Empire held the people of Russkiya in an iron grip and tried to force their religion of heresy. The Prophet was named Vladimir son of Romat and he was a merchant. Vladimir son of Romat travelled on a journey to Novikgrad. On the way to the city he was stopped by the voice of God. The Prophet listened to God and obeyed his commands. What follows is the Word of God, spoken by Vladimir of the Cross, the Prophet of God.

1. There is no god but God.
2. To receive the grace of God, one must testify this noble truth.
3. God loves all of his people.
4. God seeks to assist all of his people, but the people must accept God into their hearts.
5. God holds a special love and pity and plan for the Russkiyan People.
6. The Russkiyan People is the chosen people of God.
7. The Predstav-Nev (People who submit to God) wait for the Resurrection by the Hand of God.
8. The city of Karakgrad will forever be known as Nevskagrad.
9. All Predstav-Nev must make a pilgrimage to Nevskagrad in order to become closer to God and to remember our history.
10. All Predstav-Nev must pray to God twice a day after the two principal meals.

The Eastern Empire executed our Prophet after the Russkiyan People began to unite under the leadership of God and Vladimir son of Romat. The Prophet was renamed in honor as Vladimir of the Cross.

Hmmmmmm

Would a steampunk city-state be too out of line with the other factions?

You're not the first one to voice an interest in a Steampunk setting. Since I want players free to craft their own civilization, I have no objections. However, in order to keep from being OP in your lore, your technology should have severe limitations. Of course, gunpowder will certainly be non-existence as well as airships and the like.

I know Fingon and I talked about advancing the tech at some point in the game, from a medieval setting to a steam punk setting, and as cool as that would be, I'm not sure if it will pan out.

I would very much like if you went with the "discovery" of the fuel and then slowly transforms into a steampunk civ. That would motivate IC's about your civilizations progress a lot more as well.

Exactly how did you end out with units? Did you add a customizable trait to it?

Because if you did, I could see a ship with Flight being an airship (quite similar to my own dragon idea). And gun powder would just be a trait of the ranged unit - armor penetrating or some such, which would give a bonus vs. armored units.

Well with the Number CruncherTM you will be able to freely add modifiers to units that could potentially give them various effects. Like for instance "Magical Boneswords" could be one modifier that gave blah and blah.

Because gunpowder and the like are doomed to be OP lore-wise or because it is just too advanced for the setting?

I dont really know as Guns could be awesome, they are slower than Archers but they then do more damage mainly to heavy armor, could be fun to have them.

Arquebuses are slower. Bun usually steam-punk guns are pretty fast.

I am of course not speaking about steam-punk or any quick shooting weapons.

I would see it if you replace your ranged units with guns trough IC and orders (would say it is expensive) you get bonuses to attack, but your speed is lowered even further.
It wouldn't be a trait per-say, but a modifier on that unit in itself. So having several ranged units with cannons would be REALLY damn expensive.
