Would anyone be interested in some cooperation in order to create a polytheistic pantheon (similar to ancient Greece/Rome). I know there are Muslims/Monotheistic faith already, but that one does not fit with my own race.

I'm not 100% sure I'll even be playing, but I'll help develop a pantheon. Were you thinking anthropomorphized gods, or animal type gods or what?

I was thinking of deities like the Greek versions. Each god (or goddess) holding a portfolio, having both strengths and flaws in their personalities. They'd have a humanoid form and a god form. The god form would have features relying on their portfolio. For instance the god of the oceans would have gills and scales, while the god of the forge would have metallic features and such.

I am fine making up my own religion, it is more that I was thinking that other players might also have ideas of having multiple gods, rather than just one, and then it'd prolly make sense if the religions would somehow be connected and held by more nations.

My and Noco's planned nations are essentially to the result of a schism in our Church. So our religion is already pretty well defined, but I am happy to help lend a hand in helping forging your pantheon, if you want!

I want to make a nation controlled by highly magical elves (unoriginal, I know). I have their system of magic in my head, but I don't know if I even want to give them a hardcore religion. I was thinking of just having them believe in reincarnation or their souls ascending to the source of magic or something simple like that.

You certainly don't need to create a fully-fledged religion, it's just stuff for flavour! As for nation of highly magical elves, it actually sounds quite cool!

I was thinking that instead of a race of man being different just because of culture they could actually be a different race. For instance mer (elven races) don't only differ culturaly, but are a separate species at times i.e. orcs or drow. Homo Sapien Sapiens, in real life, shared the world with about five other human species (Neanderthals being the most well known). With this as an option players can further spice up their nations' appearance. For example a player might want the IC to be giant's, well that could be game breaking, so they can be a species of particularly large human. Such as homo heidelbergensis whose skeletal remains show they ranged from 5 -7 feet in height (with many pockets being over 7 feet tall), a similar brain size to modern humans (meaning they could have just as complex a culture as a regular human player). This would make it fictional but plausible at the same time.

What are your thoughts on this concept?

I'm all for that, Iisbroke. With Rheagonn players are free to create their own species, whether they are giants, mermaids, or a different species of humans.

Glad you like it, I thought it would be an interesting idea to propose cause I've never seen that done.

How do you feel about a civilization lead by a single magic user/group of magic users who have summoned or have control over a huge number of creatures? My idea, for example, is a magic user who has control over spiders, but it could extend to things like necromancers as well.

That is very interesting, and would be a great addition to the world of Rheagonn.

Since I had free time, I'm going to dump my Civ here until the game is launched.

Civilisation: The Webs of Dacaii
Type: Oligarchic Tyranny
Ruler: Lady Helene Archanaii, Mother of Spiders, Spinner of Webs, Tyrant of Dacaii
Trait: Witch (?)
Civ Trait: Our Webs are Thick - Large Bonus to fighting on Friendly soil, Large Penalty on enemy soil

A Brief Description

Before the so named "Night of Silk", Dacaii was split between several City States and Petty Kingdoms, each ruled by a caste of Mages. The Dacaian Humans were, according to local tradition, descended from an extinct Elven Kingdom that intermarried with local human women, as a result were slightly more magically inclined and had longer natural lifespans. House Archanaii was a minor house that ruled from the Library of Archon, essentially a hamlet surrounded by a sprawling, uninhabited woodland. Lady Helene's father was considered very experimental by his colleagues in his magic use and bordered on the Dark Arts - as a result the four Great Houses of Dacaii agreed to crush Archanaii, fearing the House gain too much power. The Library of Archon was attacked, Helene's family murdered and fiefdom burned. Though brutal to an outsider, such a response was typical of Dacaian family politics. However, the Archanaii household guard, roughly one hundred archers, held off the attackers as Helene fled into the woods with her father's books. Most believed her dead, and did not consider the second daughter of a dead bloodline any particular threat.

A decade passed. Helene, now a young woman, had mastered her father's work in arachnomancy, taming a race of Colossal Spiders that dwelled in the dark forests that surrounded Archon. During her exile she stumbled upon an ancient crypt and awoke a great beast, which Helene could speak to using her magical ability. The dying giant identified herself as the "Mother of Spiders", an old forgotten titan once worshiped as a Goddess, but then forgotten as the Old Ways were. Helene offered her food, as she considered the life of one once considered a God greater than her own - the Mother refused and instead asked, with her last breath, that Helene feed her many children. Helene accepted to take the place as the Mother of Spiders, and within a few years her brood were large, healthy and numerous.

The Dying Giant, the Mother of Spiders

Then opportunity came through yet another conflict between the Dacaian city states. Whilst the Great Families were distracted, Lady Helene took back her Household in the Library of Archon and raised the Archanaian banner. Her army of spiders made short work of the nearby garrisons, and at a lightning pace decimated the cities that stood between her and the Great Families. Fearing that the Great Houses would flee the realm once the others fell and she would be denied her revenge, Lady Helene planned a simultaneous attack on the Great Four that would be completed in a single night - the "Night of Silk".

The first to fall was House Demotaii, attacked the moment the sun set. The Household Guard of Demotaii had recently suffered a major loss, and was quickly overrun - the entire bloodline was wiped out immediately by the ravenous spiders. Second to fall was the most powerful of the Four, Campanaii, who attempted to use the House specialty - Water Magic - to drown the beasts but instead trapped themselves in the keep. The Campanaii were spared the fate of the Demotaii, as they surrendered their magical power to Helene in exchange for free passage out of Dacaii. The final house to fall, Veroraii, fought the most viciously, using Fire Magic to torch Helene's army as it scaled the walls of Veron. This delayed Helene as she was forced to commit the rest of her attacking force instead of attacking the final Great House, Austranaii.

art0252.jpg

The Tyrant of Dacaii, the Mother of Spiders, Lady Helene Archanaii

Austranaii was unique in that it was the only Dacaian house that did not use magic, and instead ruled the trade city of Austron as a mercantile Family. The Patriarch of Austranaii, High Mayor Aeston Austranaii, having heard of the surprise attack from the Campanaii, prepared his defenses and quickly stockpiled pots of oil to burn away Archanaian horde. Lady Helene was frustrated by her failure to take the city, and with her forces depleted (though Aeston was never aware of this), she eventually accepted a truce. Aeston argued to Helene that Austranaii have no magical power to offer, and were not part of the forces that sacked Archon - Helene's lust for revenge would not be sated by the murder of more innocents, he said, and after Austron there was no more left of Dacaii to conquer. Helene eventually accepted - Austron was the only settlement that was not massacred by Helene's wrath and the only area uncovered by the Webs of Dacaii.

With no further to march, the Mother of Spiders returned to Archon. Now accepted as the Tyrant of all of Dacaii (by what little of it still inhabited by man), she had her spiders rebuild the Library as a giant Citadel, with woven web walls as thick and strong as iron. Since her conquest, the Realm of Dacaii became silent. Apart from the city of Austron, which accepts many Silk Traders seeking the legendary thread of Helene's Spiders, very few dare to enter. Though isolationist, whispers ebb and flow from the Webs, and the realm's neighbors, very rightly, are suspicious of the Arachnomancer.

((Anything you think should be changed to make the IC more flexible, Bishop?))
