Alright, I lied and made 1,5 updates instead of 3. I got into the war in the third though :p

Chapter II: The Road to War

On January 22nd, I start building five IST, three SUP (H) and one infantry brigade to plug the holes in my division compositions. I’ll be going for HARM to bolster most of my armored divisions, so I should have 16 armored and 55 infantry divisions in the end (including 3 garrison ones).

ey1.gif

On 2nd May, Great War Demonstration happens. That’s pretty good, if you ask me.

9wa.gif

On 15th June, I can enact Advanced Training. I won’t have specialist training at least until ’39, so now I can start recruiting officers with a nice +50% bonus. The starting experience will come in handy too.

lji0.gif

I’ve started upgrading 14 LARM brigades to ARM ones. I just hope my plan will be ready before Germans (and Soviets) come down on me, triple that for my HARM aspirations.

3ae.gif

On 6th October, politicians decide that the level of civil rights leads to anarchy and chaos. I agree with that and enforce the harshest possible law for democracy: Repression.

m2f.gif

With the 5th brigade research complete, I start building 43 SUP (H) brigades. Some of the divisions already have 5 brigades, but I just wanted to ensure that this way every infantry division has something with a decent piercing value, especially those with just the AST brigade attached to them.

elg.gif

After almost ten months (Jan-Nov ’37), these brigades are complete. Now my IC production has full hands with upgrading all those units.

ghwg.gif

Here you can see my tank research, nothing too surprising to see here. I’d welcome that KV-2 in my service as soon as possible though.

8is.gif

I begin to reinforce my divisions on 15th December. One can never be paranoid enough!

rum.gif

On 4th March ’38, I begin to position my troops on the Soviet and Lithuanian borders. I don’t believe my eastern neighbors not a one bit.

kisn.gif

And on 15th April, everything is ready to force the Lithuanians to give up their claims on Vilnius. In case they would fight and Soviets joined them, I won’t be defeated so quickly as if I had all the units sitting back in Warszawa.

oc7.gif

The good news is the Soviets have decided they have their hands busy with all the purging going on. The bad news is the Baltics united and now they want Vilnius back. None shall stand in our path!

2w1.gif

And this is it for this chapter. The next will bring an interesting unraveling of the Crisis. Stay tuned!

Chapter III: This Is Why I Don’t Play Majors

Because it’s too easy! For this war, I was good with 50% strength divisions and no OOB whatsoever.

Three days into the war and Baltics are still caught by surprise, while Kaunas is already in sight. I’ve actually moved the capital from Kaunas to Joniskis, since I didn’t want to get them rid out of their stockpiles too soon.

hf1v.gif

And as soon as enough divisions arrive, I order the attack on Kaunas, which starts on 22nd April and is over shortly thereafter.

8vw2.gif

On 27th, Baltic Union sues for peace, yet I’m too greedy to accept their peace offer.

uu2j.gif

On 5th May, the battle of Joniskis begins. It’s even more one-sided than the battle for Kaunas.

8k8.gif

On 14th May, Baltic Union is effectively split in half, with only a fraction of their army defending Tartu or Tallinn, the last Baltic VPs after a division with AST arrives in Joniskis.

w41u.gif

And on 20th May, the war is all over after roughly a month of fighting. The AI simply cannot achieve what I’ve done with the BU :)

mvh.gif

That’s all for this one. What the next chapter holds is a mystery for me as well!

P.S. I had a 25% chance of Soviets directly intervening to the war and even an event where I could actively declare war on them. That would make the future wars actually easier, with the Soviets taken out early, but what can I do. Remind me to post here the .rar file of all modifications I’ve made after this AAR is over.

Hmm your attacking with your elite divisions the 'E' or is that engineer divisions???

Those are basically divisions with ENG, but in HPP we call them AST. It is there just because when Bromgrev once tested something, he forgot to switch back the INF sprite, but we're all OK with it anyway ^^

Seems like the priority in the unit definition is wrong.

Yeah, it doesn't matter anyway. A competent player checks his OOB like one hundred times before he goes to war and I'm not an exception ;)

I might post the next update in roughly half an hour, if nothing intervenes of course.

Chapter IV: The Second Interbellum

On 28th September, I add three infantry divisions into the production. I think I have way too many tank divisions anyway, since HPP makes motorized beats swallow more black gold than you can imagine!

eusx.gif

Finally on 1st October, I’m allowed to research motorized infantry. Not a moment too soon. In the background you can see the placement of my troops, though I’ll shuffle them around again before the war comes.

lvq.gif

The PA party won the November elections by a landslide and I didn’t even need to support it actively. HPP event “Rigged Elections” fired (-5 popularity, +5 organization on top of some dissent I guess) quite often, so that basically took care of it.

hrq.gif

The Polish army counted a bit fewer than 500 thousand men on 1st January ’39. Shame it’s already on 50% strength on top of Firepower doctrines :D

1873.gif

I don’t like this single bit. Those filthy Germans didn’t even offer us Ciezsyn after the partition of Czechoslovakia!

9ik.gif

Five more divisions are added into the production on 21st February. I have my doubts of them being completed before the war though.

5i3a.gif

On 1st March, Hungary gives me transit rights. Sucks to be them...

vl9.gif

And on 18th, I can start researching heavy armored support brigade!

82z.gif

On 11th April, the research of motorized infantry is complete. Any and all cavalry brigades (26) are ordered to refit, so they are able to keep up with the tanks and mobile artillery.

mpi.gif

The bad news is that I didn’t get guaranteed by the Allies after Czechoslovakia got occupied...

oi9.gif

This is the situation in China. Everything else went historically (don’t look at Baltics!), except for Spanish Republic winning the civil war swiftly back in the ’36. Who cares about China or Iberia anyway...?

i9k.gif

Except for that “3” missing from the date, it’s right on time... But hey, you are NOT doing that!

iy0.gif

22nd August brings us a valuable technology and all eleven IST brigades are getting upgraded to HARM right away.

73m.gif

Yet two days after that, Germans demand Gdańsk and surrounding territories! I’m not allowing that...

rjem.gif

Let’s hope I’ll fare better this time! I’ll cover the OOB in the next chapter. Either way, the AAR is updated, so you have plenty of room for speculation and advice at least until tommorow!

why so weak? with a PoD in 1919 With Pilsudskis March on Moscow instead on Kiev, you could have a far more land and a russia dismembered kaiserreich style.
here you did little: Kiev and baltic states aren't the game changer.
also
for claims use this:

and this for naming purposes
http://www.davidrumsey.com/luna/ser...List_No,Series_No;lc:RUMSEY~8~1&mi=7&trs=1247

also, if you have Kiev does only that much, that you could claim entiriety of ukraine, you can also make an update about finalization of Tristate Commonwealth Idea (which failed because russians took Kiev; aka Commonwealth of Trination, pl: Rzeczpospolita Trojga Narodów)

cheers

edit: Intermarum was an idea for a block/confederation, but the actuall state that was to emmerge in Pilsudskis ideals, beffiting the historical boundaries of Commonwealth and reuniting the nations tied by it in the past would most likely be called Rzeczpospolita, simply, without adding it's Poland even though Poles would be, by far, the core of it.

I felt like I'd be pushing the "I win" button with the whole Belarus and Ukraine. I wanted to make the game a little bit more interesting, but I don't want an easy victory. Myself I'm also pretty teased now...

Shame the map isn't bigger. But hey, I doubt I could've add more cores.

Whoa, I'm not renaming provinces. That's too much even for me! :p

You really should come back to AARing and mod in everything you have in mind for Poland. It'd be interesting how would you approach this whole complex situation!

Alright, I got it renamed. Besides, that French "e" prevented me from saving the game without removing it!

Thanks for dropping by, let's hope I'll defend your Fatherland better this time ;)

I guess your Baltic Union never got attacked by a super-charged Poland? :D

That's out of the question! :p

Besides, I had half-strength divisions on top of none OOB (though it is probably better than the AI one :D). But yeah, I admit I'd have some trouble dealing with Polish armor. I forgot to add I used only one armored division during the conquest of BU, otherwise I'd sweep them in a week if I had my whole army at my disposal :)

You mentioned that the Allies didn't guarantee Poland? So it looks like you could be standing alone against Germany and the Soviets? Sounds like fun!

Yeah, they did not. Not that it would matter; without unblocked Öresund they can't do anything anyway. At least France didn't suicide this time! :D

By the way, the new research logic works well. Now the German infantry has 8 piercing rating compared to 4 back in Czechoslovakia. I just hope I can field those HARM ASAP...

Chapter IV/V: OOB

In case you’ve been wondering, this is my pre-war OOB.

bwq.gif

nd3.gif

cwk.gif

8i4.gif

e5yq.gif

f2a.gif

The tank divisions without 2nd support brigade are to be filled with HARM brigades, which are being upgraded from IST (those are these 3 question marks in the OOB - 11 HARM brigades in total). As for leader question marks, these guys just don’t have pictures, I’ve in fact plenty of leaders for my (quite a big) army. The next chapter will be done in roughly an hour, in case nothing stalls me from making it.

Chapter V: The End of the Beginning

Three days later after the declaration of war, my armored division full of 10 TP tanks has successfully cut off a cavalry division after beating back a division of Austrian mountaineers (without any real AT guns of course). Now our infantry division is making a short work of it.

xg.gif

wjak.jpg

Our latest Polish tank - 10 TP never left the prototype status during the real WWII

Germans have been pushed behind Morava River in the south, while tough fights are ongoing in the north. Slovakian front has been successfully stalled and I might even think of encircling the eastern portion of it in order to shorten the front as much as possible. As you can see, French have even broken through in the south (no doubt it’s indirectly my fault :p).

sbe.gif

I’ve underestimated the German presence in Eastern Prussia badly. I was like “Alright, I don’t need to garrison Mazoji Lietuva. I’ll take Konigsberg fast enough!” I was wrong though and now my Baltic garrisons are thrown away at an insane pace.

26m.gif

One of my garrison divisions have been overrun already. If you consider moving at 1 km/h running...

sve.gif

My manpower reserves have started to run low, so I mobilized my reserves now. That should take care of manpower shortages for a while.

85x.gif

On 7th September, Italians join the Axis. Until they aren’t on my front, I don’t care too much, but that’s just me though.

yc5.gif

On 10th, I won the battle of Kolberg. It would be really nice to have a solid defense line behind Morava, so I can drive those pesky Germans out of the Baltic States.

95s.gif

I won’t be surprised if I lost all those divisions (which I eventually did), except from the generic militia division that can move at 6 km/h.

5da.gif

Why Britain!? Just why...

4h0a.gif

Polish navy all too powerful! Making use of those SS and DD...

5aj.gif

Overview as of 20th September. I can’t say the front is moving much in core Germany though.

t0tk.gif

No...!

At least I won the battle. Now it’ll be a lone submarine raiding the waters of Baltic for German convoys! In fact, I hope they won’t send the whole Kriegsmarine down on me :D

7gw.gif

Alright, I really want to eliminate Konigsberg ASAP, yet I don’t think I can pull off any troops from the main frontline just yet.

fm2.gif

Better later than never! I guess...

ay4.gif

And after extensive efforts, requiring me to click the decision button, I’ve been accepted into the Allies! Don’t you dare to leave me in this when Soviets come down on me...

3nz.gif

This is it for this chapter. I hope you enjoyed it, so suggest, good comment, bad comment; you know, usual business. Stay tuned!
