Were parent-child relation bonuses removed? I just noticed my mother hates me and there is a 0 for the opinion bonus for being my mother.
Were you previously using the the Family Relations (FRE) mini-mod? Did you stop using FRE at some point and perhaps only just now notice the lack of an opinion modifier for that in vanilla and HIP/PB?

Could you tone down AI aggressiveness by a huge degree in general and when they are not ready to wage a war?

I am playing a vassal of Byzantium emperor whom I pressed the claim for. There are so many oppositions against her in the empire, but after every freaking civil war in which I save her ass over and over she starts another war against foreign powers to reconquer lost territories, which is immediately followed by a post or concurrent massive civil war.

This is extremely frustrating and immersion breaking. I understand she wants to take back lost lands, but doing that when opposition faction has like 600% strength of her and when a civil war has just ended(all thanks to my assassination of pretenders) a month ago, and when she doesn't even have recovered half of her levy is crazy. She is also joining every single war to which she is called by her allies despite impending civil wars, and as a result I see my liege engaged in 2,3 wars almost always. There is limit as to one can do when his liege is this suicidal and wants to decline so eagerly.

I've seen this behavior when playing Zoroastrian vassal as well. My Zoroastrian liege started with an extra army, and despite being surrounded by enemies in all sides, AI liege always initiates a war against one of those enemies, then get crushed by other enemies who DOW on the liege very soon. Literally every monarch I press claim for gets replaced due to their aggressive wars(like a fresh new monarch would do something like that before stabilizing his realm) and ensuing civil wars.

I hope AIs act more passively to conserve their strength before waging a war. If they are incapable of perceiving and evaluating threats by hard coded limits, they should at least act cautious to prevent from acting absolutely senseless. Almost immediately after every single civil war a new monarch starts invasion war against foreign countries only to be dragged down by another civil war. This is ridiculous. T_T...

Sadly, without tweaking the approximately two game-global knobs that would totally flatten all interesting activity in the game if turned further down (in terms of AI aggressiveness), Paradox gives modders almost zero ability to mod actual AI decision-making [or strategy], unlike some other games. There is little we can do about the described problem other than to encourage you to accept that sometimes there are bad rulers, and generally speaking, the AI is always a poor ruler compared to a moderately sane human being (or their traits, political options, internal realm dynamic, and natural AI tendencies happen to fit what a human ruler would do-- luck, in other words).

What are the fabricate claim requirements? I recall there was once a tooltip ala war declarations (unless I'm misremembering) but right now there isn't and I can't send my chancellor after anyone.

Also, with a previous ruler I met all the holy war requirements in the tooltip, but still couldn't declare holy war. Was it a religion thing (I'm playing as the Khazars, and if you took out holy wars for Jews I can see why) or some other issue? My current ruler doesn't have the traits, but one who does may come up again.

(For now, unable to declare war in either way, having pressed all my de jure claims, and with a religion which makes inviting claimants to land and press claims for difficult to say the least, I'm faced with a bit of a waiting game.)

CB reqs have been shifted from decisions to tooltips I think.

What's happened to claim fabrication? I can't send my chancellor to do it.
What combination of modules are you using? If you're not using SWMH, it is likely an issue I introduced when I cut down the PB map.

I installed good old clear PB. Nothing more.
Just confirmed this is true for plain PB. No idea why, since I haven't been hands-on with the change to the vanilla map. However, I suppose it could be a scripting issue, as it doesn't affect other job_actions. Maybe a missing is_land check for any_neighbor_province? I can't look into it at the moment, unfortunately. However, Meneth may have a chance to do so soon.

It's probably because I deleted the continents file, so it messes things up trying to check for a continent that doesn't exist. Already fixed in the beta though.

Is this intended/vanilla behavior?

Waging a holy war against a king. One of the contested counties declares a "War against the Tyranny of X" against their liege, my target enemy in the holy war. I win the holy war, but do not gain the rebelling county, which immediately surrenders to its old liege and continues to exist as part of the old kingdom.

Now I can't declare war for it for 5+ years, and to make matters worse I had that county completely sieged out.

It's a result of bad vanilla mechanics. Not really much we can do about it I'm afraid.

Could have something to do with what I was about to report...

In a non-SMWH (with Viet) install using the current build, I have lots of missing provinces. They're in landed_titles files, but not in province_table.csv or in localization files. Some have rulers set in the start file, some don't.

Here's a list of what currently is lacking in localization files, but which exists in landed_titles files. Some, like d_frisia, seem to simply lack localization. The vast majority (including, I believe, all the counties) are phantom provinces that simply screw stuff up):

k_tunisia
k_coptic
d_liege
d_limburg
d_frisia
d_kairwan
c_zutphen
c_oversticht
c_limburg
c_namur
c_laroche
c_chiny
c_tudela
c_huesca
c_lugo
c_sudisland

It's really frustrating finding out that you can't create a duchy because you don't control counties that don't exist.

While I'm tempted to do surgery on the landed_titles files and my current save file to cut out the nonexistent provinces, in the short term I at least threw together a quick localization file for the missing titles:

#CODE;ENGLISH;FRENCH;GERMAN;;SPANISH;;;;;;;;;x
k_coptic;Coptic Papacy;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
k_coptic_adj;Coptic Papal;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
k_tunisia;Tunisia;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
k_tunisia_adj;Tunisian;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
d_liege;Liege;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
d_liege_adj;Lieger;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
d_limburg;Limburg;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
d_limburg_adj;Limburger;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
d_frisia;Frisia;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
d_frisia_adj;Frisian;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
d_kairwan;Kairwan;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
d_kairwan_adj;Kairwani;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_zutphen;Zutphen;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_zutphen_adj;Zutphener;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_oversticht;Oversticht;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_oversticht_adj;Overstichter;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_limburg;Limburg;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_limburg_adj;Limburger;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_namur;Namur;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_namur_adj;Namurese;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_laroche;La Roche;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_laroche_adj;La Roche;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_chiny;Chiny;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_chiny_adj;Chinois;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_tudela;Tudela;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_tudela_adj;Tudelano;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_huesca;Uesca;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_huesca_adj;Oscense;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_lugo;Lugo;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_lugo_adj;Lucense;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_sudisland;Sudisland;;;;;;;;;;;;;x
c_sudisland_adj;Sudislander;;;;;;;;;;;;;x

At least this way when I search for a county that starts with "c", I wont ever have to see non-localized names in game. *sigh*

Drat. Frustrating to see some of my weaker Jarls launch conquests against counties in the (uber) HRE right as I'm trying to reform my religion. Nothing like a bunch of failed conquests to lower my religion's score.... Stupid Jarls.

It's really frustrating finding out that you can't create a duchy because you don't control counties that don't exist.

While I'm tempted to do surgery on the landed_titles files and my current save file to cut out the nonexistent provinces, in the short term I at least threw together a quick localization file for the missing titles:

At least this way when I search for a county that starts with "c", I wont ever have to see non-localized names in game. *sigh*
Most of the titles you list no longer exist since they got removed in 3.5.0. I guess they might still exist in VIET Immersion.
I've now taken care of all remaining unlocalized titles in the PB beta though.

Should I repost in VIET?

Oh, and I did my surgury... c_lugo is the real problem child, as it is a nonexistent province that actually has an owner. :p Sometimes clicking on its owner (Burgundy, in this case. It's been a strange game) was causing CTD's, too...
