Hey Meneth, I seem to have a bug, I added a few things to this mod(new cultures, a couple kingdoms, restructured some duchies, created and editted events, also added new portraits) but I seem to have a problem with the retinues because I can buy any retinue I want, I am German but I can buy all retinues there are of other cultures, I can buy Irish retinue, African retinues and even Steppe retinues. Do you happen to know what causes this?

By the way, I use version 3.33 or 3.34 I think - has ben quite a while since update.

You can see that even though I am German, I can recruit the "Soturi Lempo" retinue

You're probably using an outdated version of either PB, or CKII. PB 3.3.6 and later combined with CKII 2.0.2 or earlier causes that issue, as does PB 3.3.5 and earlier combined with CKII 2.0.3.

I seem to be having issue with exporting my game to eu4. I'v played it right up to 1443 but does not export (the hourglass just keeps flipping and after 10 minutes I gave up).

edit: I tried a save that was in 1440 and it worked perfectly fine. I did mess with the aztec empire title as it did cause issue after I crushed them (the event that marked their defeat kept firing every 30 days)

Depends if you speak about landed title's CoA or random ones.
if the former, a lot are still vanilla's.
if the latter, please expand a bit more your wishes/suggestions. Finding a good heraldic eagle and a good heraldic lion model -and easy to massively use- is quite difficult.

I'm speaking more of those available in the ruler designer? The provided lions and dragons look fantastic, but perhaps for the eagle you can offer the eagle of the county of Brandenburg, and for a two-headed option, Lübeck's. The vanilla ones are quite ugly, in my humble opinion, but the eagle that I presume you provided for those two landed titles look quite good, and could be used for a family's coat of arms as well. Either that of the county of Brandenburg, or that of Zähringen would work well. Then again, my knowledge of medieval German heraldic eagles is severely limited, if it could be considered knowledge as such.

I'd recommend starting after the war is over; it's the most balanced start-date.
I'll have to look into the balance in the Stamford Bridge start though.

Okay thanks for responding. I definitely prefer the Stamford Bridge start, so I will try to figure out how to give William at least a temporary boost.

Obviously your time is probably better spent on other details, but I am wondering if there is any balance issue with his strength/aggressiveness in the December start?

Thanks again for the great mod work.

If outdated CKII is the issue, updating it shouldn't break saves.
If outdated PB is the issue, updating to 3.3.6 shouldn't cause any issues, but 3.4 will. Here's a 3.3.6 download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/1lzu14126drg1gg/Project Balance 3.1.24 pre-rerelease.7z

This might be a dumb question but are you sure that that's the 3.3.6 download because the files seem signifcantly older then mine, the website and file name say 3.1.24 and it also crashed my game.

In a recent game every single Kingdom besides Saxony ended up with Elective Succession. Is this WAD or is the Elective succession faction just having a particularly good game? Can I expect it to solve itself over time (its about 1190 or so)?

Beyond that I will say that this particular game has some of the cleanest borders I've seen in any game or mod. Very enjoyable.

I had noticed this several times myself. Meneth directed me to the 00_factions file for possible ways to tinker with variables. Still have not found a satisfactory way to include the Elective Faction and also keep it relevant. Because it is restricted to low CA, however, starting out at about 1160 or so yields fairly balanced results. Once CA starts to wear down across the board, you're right back where you started though. The problem is that on earlier starts, dynasties can never hold a kingdom long enough to build CA. The only exception is smaller kingdoms, which have a high enough demesne and few enough vassals to fend off the occasional elective-happy count.

On a different note: I've been noticing strange goings-on with mercenaries and holy orders.

1. In my recent 1300 start, a Yngling holy knight was somehow able to inherit Norway thereby changing it to Agnatic Open and dooming the Ynglings to extinction via celibacy. Almost definitely a vanilla issue, but I thought I'd mention it.

2. In the same game the Navarrese Company is now a fully fledged Genoese trade republic. I've seen this happen a couple other times as well. I'm glad to see AI being punished in the same way that the human players are for not paying up, but is there any way to make Republics disband their mercenary allies before they decide to take their cities as payment?

My guess is that the crown levies/authority being harder to keep up in PB makes it worse for the AI as well. I honestly haven't played Vanilla much since around when the game came out so I have no idea if it has the same problem.. heh.

I'm going to try making it so that any crown law change whatsoever invalidates the faction.. hopefully it won't lead to too much stagnation.

I really think there should be some way of becoming elective as a Norse character before reforming the faith (≈Already having united Scandinavia, which never happened in the Old Gods period while there were plenty of thing elections/proclamations based on the military aristocracy's support). In fact, the things had a lot of power in the succession rather than it always being just a split of the sons (with regional variations, sure). It's just frustrating that you have to use all your earnt money to kill your wife or your sons so you don't get more sons. It's also not very realistic, in Old Norse culture claimants would fight it disputes after the father died (and there weren't always claimants strong enough or willing to oppose the popularly embraced successor), and the thing semi-election would usually be the end-result. With the current setup it's just defaults to being always auto-chaos every time.

Fancy little feature coming next version of PB:
Portage across the Suez (from the Med to the Indian Ocean) will now take ~6 weeks instead of a single week. Note that this doesn't apply to PB+SWMH, which does not currently have an Indian Ocean.
Though I've heard some "rumors" they might be adding one next version.

You can try it out in the beta version of PB: https://github.com/Meneth/PB-git/tree/beta
