In my games Rurik's sons either go native or get invaded, while Dyre carves out a massive realm.
I've updated the list of compatible mods with some extra instructions for ClearCombat.Just to anyone that might be interested, the current version of the excellent Clear Combat mod increases the Retinue Cap and decreases the Retinue Cap Usage of Units when using it together with Project Balance but doesn't do it when used only with Vanilla. Below are the relevant quotes:
As a side note, Clear Combat is a simple and elegant solution to those of us who would rather want that high value martial skills be relevant in combat.
They must've renamed the title at some point; the event used to work just fine and is only there for PB+SWMH. I'll get it fixed.Your event to expand Portugal's de jure land doesn't work properly in PB+SWMH because d_alentejo is d_beja in SWMH. That's also the only event that will not trigger no matter what if Al-Andalus exists.
I think there should be a decision to get rid of Stressed somehow. Perhaps a vacation to a rural estate, lowering all stats or causing a regency for several years until it's over?
Stressed is identical to vanilla.I think something's messed up with Stressed in PB, too. It's killed my ruler and his heir within a year of each other. The former led a lot of battles, but was never a permanent general, and the latter only led armies/flanks for battles themselves and whom I made marshal for one month to give him the +1 to Martial, during which he gained Stressed and died of it almost very soon afterwords. And a lot of my councillors get it just from sitting in provinces researching.
Stressed is identical to vanilla.
Do note that when someone dies a natural death, whatever negative health trait they've got will always get the blame. So someone with stressed will "die of stress".
Just noticed a bit of an issue. With the reduction in the 'subjugation' bonus I noticed that the lingering 'You just declared war' penalty of -25 almost wipes out the subjugation bonus of +30. When you add the 'Short Reign' of -32 that means that it is very likely if Small Kingdom A subjugates Small Kingdom B that B will immediately turn around for independence.
I think for the first year it needs to be returned back to +75 as that counteracts both the Short Reign and Declared War penalties while leaving an acceptable +20 on top.
OR add a flag to a subjugated lord that makes it impossible for him to join or start factions for the first year. He can hate you, fine, but he shouldn't be able to turn around immediately after you whupped him to force you to whup him again and again and again.
Not possible to do AFAIK.Pointing that out again in case it was missed.
As for Retinue Caps and Sigmoid curves is it possible to use the current retinue cap as a variable? If so you could set up national modifiers to adjust retinue size and keep it scaling properly.
So at 5,000 retinue cap you get a modifier of "Small Retinue" which multiplies total retinue cap by .8 (you lose this if your retinue drops below 3000
At 10,000 retinue cap you get a modifier of "Medium Retinue" which multiplies total retinue cap by .7 (you lose this if your retinue drops below 6000
At 15,000 retinue cap you get a modifier of 'Large Retinue' which multiplies total retinue cap by .6 (you lose this if your retinue drops below 8000
At 20,000 retinue cap you get a modifier of 'Huge Retinue' which multiplies total retinue cap by .5 (you lose this if your retinue drops below 9000
You could theoretically keep scaling but I think a flat 50% would keep the #'s down a bit. The end result would be that getting 5,000 retinue would be just as easy as it always was but it gets very difficult to cross 10k and beyond.
Retinue cap can only be applied on the holding level currently, making adding any complexity to it near impossible.Could you do it by realm size? It's not a perfect translation but if your realm is X big apply penalty of Y to retinue cap? You could explain it as saying that the royal troops are needed to help maintain order in such a large realm...
If I were you I'd check if there's any incompatibilities between Additional Objectives and VIET, but beyond that is should just be a matter of enabling them all, yes.sorry if this noobish question has been asked before, i did a search but didn't see an answer...
If i want to run PB, PB_VIET,Additional_Objectives_PB and Arko(with religions deleted) is there anything i need to do other than just select them in the mod section and start the game?

As a Catholic you should be getting excommunicated shortly after declaring war on the Pope.Meneth, what do you think about adding in some negative modifers if a faction attacks a head of a religion? In my games at least, if I kill the pope, or capture Rome, as a pagan or Muslim, there is never really any response from the rest of the catholic world.
