It doesn't look like the title name tied to owner's culture function is working; Palermo isn't Balharm when it's ruled by a Arabic lord, Naples isn't Neapolis at game start, etc. Not sure if that's intentional or not.

Is their top liege the same culture?
The names use the top_liege culture, and if a title becomes independent it will not change until the next succession. A good vanilla example of this is in Ireland. I see Ormond becoming independent most of the time, it should then get the Norwegian name 'Vedrafjord', but it only does so after the current count dies.

This is probaby because Meneth is using the old landed_titles as his basis, rather than the new landed_titles which have all the... new culture-specific titles. Basically something like that. PB uses a different file set-up for the landed titles folder, so these must have been missing when Meneth was merging and updating the files to 1.09.

What cybr said. Landed_titles had several hundred changes between 1.08 and 1.09, and most of them simply haven't made their way into PB so far.

Do you have any plans for this Meneth???

Anyhow, Meneth, as I've finished merging the new PB with the PB-compatible version of VIET, here's a few things I noticed - these probably aren't really bugs, just little things you may want to take note of:

- All of the buildings text files from patch 1.09 include a new line, that basically is similar to "desc = ca_wall_q_1_desc". All of the buildings in PB seem to be missing these entries. I don't know what this entry does, but I suppose it isn't essential - however I figured you might want to know.
- Sicilians currently use normangfx, but I believe it would be more appropriate for them to use southerngfx (the mediterranean one) since Sicilians are also from Italy and thus should share the same portrait set as the Italians. The norman rulers who convert to Sicilian culture will still keep their generic western looks, so I don't think this would be really too promlematic a change.
- The Persian Empire can't be formed. This made sense prviously when it was the Seljuk Empire, but now that it is a generic empire like in vanilla, it should be formable (with, of course, PB-style restrictions)

Thanks for your work Meneth! I'm a long time Stainless Steel player/modder, bought Crusader Kings 2 and was pleased to see your name. Unless you're not the same Meneth of course... ;)

Anyway, I've noticed since the patch yesterday that although the Scottish and Irish mercenaries appear in my mercenary pool, they are free and don't have any troops. Not a priority issue, of course. Looking forward to the title changes when you finish!

PS Greek Strategos, I'm running VIET. Do you think Meneth's upcoming changes will be compatible?

Worth bothering if you care about localization though, this change was so that e.g. German players would no longer get the English text.
Pretty much everything implemented in PB only has English localisation, so I can't say other languages are all that important to me ;)

Why are you against the idea of a formable Persian Empire?
Can't say I see a need for it. Can't say I see any real issues with it either.


There, all dynamic names from vanilla are now implemented in my local build. I've also added a couple:
