Progress report on 0.40 beta test?

This is kinda sad. HOI3 comes out on August 4, so who cares about HOI2 CORE at that point?

August 4th is just in the US, certainly not in other parts of the world. Besides, with with no ETA on patch #2 there's still no clue when there will be a version that's actually playable.

Yeah... You guys have been saying that the release is just a one or two weeks away for the last 5 months.

No we haven't... We've been saying we had no clue whatsoever on how long the Beta had to run - tinkering with the AI wreaks havoc on any form of planning. Right now we're actually communicating a 'two weeks from now, unless some last minute major snag holds us back'. Snags like the consistent CTD we're having right now in the RC build. That one will probably be resolved pretty quickly, but things like that are the main reason we want to give the RC another spin before actually releasing.

Through the wonders of steam it's availible just about everywhere on the 4th (thank god). Good point about the patch though

If the 0.4 release is out in 2 weeks at least I should get a game in before HOI3 lands on my computer.

There is always someting to fix, lets just hope that the testers dont find them.

Any minor fixes can be done after the public release. It's the CTD's and major bugs we're keeping en eye out for. Everything is looking good so far though! We don't want to keep you all waiting any longer than necessary.

Oh, but that's what the Beta is for. I'm confident the Beta's have been beating the ground so hard for so long that most if not all of them have been discovered and removed by now. If there are any that - somehow - managed to elude all of us, they'd better not rear their ugly heads but continue to ly low.

In an attempt to revert back to the actual topic: the Release Candidate seems by-and-large to be running smoothly so far. There is some issue regarding NatSpain and the SCW that needs adressing, but we'll probably try to solve that in terms of a hotfix (or two). Apart from that we've yet to encounter any major problems, and it does seem we're still good for actual release early July, 2009.

As an update - a hotfix will be distributed to the Betas either this evening or tomorrow morning, which hopefully will tackle the problem regarding the SCW. Apart from that no new issues reported.

We'll certainly give the Betas a couple of days to give the hotfix a spin, and based on that decide whether it's good as is, or we'll be needing a new hotfix. So it certainly won't be before upcoming weekend (July 4th), perhaps even later than that. But we realize we've been tormenting you guys enough, so the minute we give it the green light we'll start rolling out.
