Is it worth it? I am playing GB, and at around 1580, every province in my home Isles has a manufactory. I am considering to invest some money into building plantations in my Caribbean colonial nation, but I am unsure about the actual returns that would provide. Can someone enlighten me?

Every manufactory gives +1 Goods produced. Every production dev gives +0.2 Goods produced. You can think of a manufactury as extra 5 production dev bought by money instead of bird mana. More goods produced equals more trade value (since trade value=goods produced*goods price and price is not something you can change), the more trade you bring home the more money you will earn. Your CN's production income will increase as well and will pay you more tariffs. So yeah, it does worth it and 100 years in you will likely earn so much you could build 10 Suez canals out of your treasury.

Put 100% tariffs on your CN's (use admin power). Grab economics and enact the +25% tariff policy. Make sure you are trading in slaves for another +25%.

Build workshop + manufactory in your CN's. If they grow unhappy, develop one of their provinces every 5 years for 20-50 monarch power (-5% liberty desire).

Gz, you broke the game. Enjoy infinite wealth :)

Basically, anything you build in your CN's gives almost twice return compared to own lands. Tariffs are completely broken.

You'll get your effective tariff rate multiplied by the production income generated back directly as tariffs. You should also be getting a decent portion of the trade back to wherever you collect as well. The trade goods in the new world can be very high value. So yes, workshop + manu in colonies is a great idea.

I'll invest a little bit of mana developing those provinces if required to open another building slot to complete the combo as well. That developing will reduce their liberty desire which in turn will allow you to raise their tariffs.

A good CN can easily generate 100+ ducats a month for the mother country.
