Problems with saved games

Hi,
This has happened already twice to me and its really depresing.
I have been playing Castille-Spain till a little over the wedding event. I have the autosave set for yearly and periodically do save the game manually when some special point is reached or when I'm leaving the game for the day.
Today I try to get back to my game and, look there, my saved game name when pressed gives me the initial GC choices, like there is nothing under that saved game name. I know I saved before leaving yesterday...Then I try the autosave file (which as said was saving every january) and the same thing...nothing! only the GC initial choice of nations to play.
My older manual saved games do show real games without problem.

The weirdest part is when I open those "empty" save games, they do show my actual game just where I left it yesterday.
What is wrong and why can't I access them? This is the second time this happens to me.

Ok...After some playing around it I noticed how on both save game files displayed when choosing them, that unlike the GC choices where you can pick among 8 nations, that in my case Byzantium had disapeared (as it had been swallowed up by the Ottomans in the game). So I loaded as Spain and got my lost game back...Huzzah!
Nevertheless it still stands the question as to why can I choose all those nations when my previous experience shows how once you have begun a GC and saved, that when you press on your file only your played nation shows surrounded with that heavenly aura while the rest remain dark. In this case, all nations show,not dark, not iluminated but just as waiting for you to choose them like in the begining of a GC.
Anyhow..I'm happy and I will rush back to play now...

It happens after Castille becomes Spain. Your game is saved with the player as Castille. Not as Spain. So when you load it, it doesn't assume you are Spain.

The conversion causes some other minor bugs too, reports in the log as if you (Spain) were a 3rd-party country. My advice is when changing countries (Castille->Spain or Anyone->Russia) immediately save the game, and start back up as the 'right' country.
