If you define a custom graphical culture that uses elements from a portrait DLC (Mongol Faces, African Portraits, Sunset Invasion) along with either vanilla or custom made elements, and do not have the DLC or the DLC is unchecked in the launcher, the elements from the DLC appear black in game rather than the game falling back to a base group graphical_culture or a second_graphical_culture as defined in common/cultures/*.txt.
