Problems with blocking

In all the time I've played the MB series I've never seen this problem before. In the settings I always have block set to automatic.

On a new game I've just started when I keep the RMB pressed to keep my shield up (example when charging a line of archers) the shield stays up for a couple of seconds but then drops away. In order to keep the shield up I have to re-click the RMB every 1-2 seconds which isnt as convienient as just keeping it pressed. My shield skill has no bearing on this at all. I'm really stumped at why this is happening.

Any advice please?

Are you sure it's not hardware related? Maybe your mouse loses the RMB signal for some reason, because I've never seen something like this when using a shield. Very strange.

Im pretty sure it isnt, I wil have to check with another mouse I guess!

Why mention a line of archers? Does it happen when archers are not involved? And why mention automatic blocking?

You haven't changed any settings / difficulty levels or applied any patches since the last time you started a game?

I could never get a shield to work to my satisfaction, I just don't use them. I probably didn't try hard enough though.

You just hold down the right mouse button, its not rocket science
