Problem with women?

Dear all,

I'm ruling an elective agnative-cognative empire and I decided that one of my daughters (a genius) will be the new ruler. I already have the highest female's status level applied for years, so theoretically women can apply for ANY position in my realm. Well, could someone please tell me why I'm the only one voting for her? I'm being attacked by a coalition of muslims under a jihad, so ALL my vassals are above +30 opinion level. But to no avail, most of them are voting for a my first born son, no matter what. Amb I doing something wrong? Before Charlemagne, women could be elected (with a malus in vassal's opinion, of course, but elegible after all). Can't they now?

As I remember, Agnatic-Cognatic allow women to inherit when there is no alternative. Isn't it Absolute Cognatic for which women have the same rights as males concerning inheritance?
If I'm right, that could explain why a male is prefered.
I'm not very experienced in this game so maybe I'm wrong...

in AC a male will always have precedence over a female, even in elective laws,

Unless your empire has absolute cognatic as your gender law and your daughter has at least a duchy title (also helps if she has some military skill), the electors will vote for Baron Joe Jabroni of Loserville over a woman.

If your son happens to be above the daughter in birth order, that may also be having an effect, which moving to Absolute Cognatic may not fix. And you may want to check the electors' personal opinions of each of the kids, not just what they think of you. The lad might have a much higher Diplomacy and be the darling of the court, while she may have some traits that annoy them.

You can always try to remove him from succession. Holy Orders, or marrying him out of the kingdom perhaps. Otherwise, work out how many vassals you need to flip and try to replace the hopeless causes with others who like her a lot more than him.
