Hi, everybody, I'm a newcomer to EU3, after buying it some time ago at a Steam deal, I finally decide to start playing it and I must say that I really like it.
After a couple of games as Milan and Savoy that went nowhere fast, but that helped me getting a better grasp of the mechanics, I decided to try something simpler and started a game as Castille, which is going well enough until now, I got Aragon (the province, not the country), vassalized Navarre, annexed Sardinia, and recently annexed Grenada, and it is just 1419, so so far so good, but I've a problem which I can't understand and I hope you can help me.
The last mission I've got from the game was to keep France out of Italy (it had annexed Calabria), now, at that moment I just got out from a couple of messy wars that reduced me to around 50 legitimacy and quite a bit of infamy (that you lose legitimacy when you concede defeat could be made more clear in the game, IMHO) so, you can understand if I wasn't in the mood to start a war with France and its horde of vassals, so I tried something different, I send one of my spies to Calabria and incited a patriot revolt, and it worked, to a point. This 4 regiments army sprang out, quickly conquered the garrison (there were no french troops present) and occupied the province. That was around 1414, more or less. now we are in 1419 and Calabria is still striped blue-and-grey, occupied by sicilian patriots but still french. Wasn't they suppose to join Sicily, or Naples, or go by themselves maybe, by now?
Also, the patriots regiment seems to be attacking other Naples provinces. Was that supposed to happen?
do you have any idea about what is going wrong?

France is probably lucky, (unless you switched lucky nations off when you started the game) and you wouldn't expect a defection from a lucky nation quite yet. It doubles the amount of time before a defection. Give it a few more years.

Rebels you sponsor will leave you alone, but anyone else is fair game.

I can confirm this now. They defected to Naples exactly after 6 year rather than the usual 3, you were right on the mark. Thank you.
